Don't go there, it will just make her mad and then it will be super awkward whenever you see her.

Should I even bother telling someone what I think of their parenting . . . .any advice?
by skeeter1 inthe situation: a neighbor's child and mine have played together for 8 years.
her mother is a single parent, and a probable narcissist.
loves designer clothes, bentleys, money, will not date a regular joe or even a rich man who doesn't drive the right car, wear the right clothes, etc.

Hi! Long time lurker finally signing up!
by LosingMyReligion inok, so the time has finally come to register an account on this site.
not that i think i have much to contribute to the discussions here, but more out of a desire to show that yet another person has learned ttatt.
i am a fader, not discussing ttatt with anyone as i know the inevitable outcome it would have.

Welcome, glad you found us.
I find it amusing that believing JWs would have to come here to get the KM. It shows that the organization really doesn't care about those struggling and missing a few meetings for whatever reason. I remember trying to get one when I was missing meetings, it was impossible, either they didn't have any or they said I couldn't get one unless I was publishing. How was I supposed to go out without knowing what I was supposed to be placing? It was a catch 22. Total lack of love or consideration for the marginal witnesses.

Rasputin and Serums and Herbs--Oh My!
by rebel8 ini have written a blog post about the dubs and their scorn of modern medicine and rasputin, while simultaneously touting unproven, dangerous cures.. i wonder what it is about a fake remedy that makes jws believe in it or scorn it?.

I think there is a common thread to the two things. The average JW thinks they know something that others don't, that they know more than the "experts", those more well educated than they are. It's a conceit, one encouraged by the Watchtower, it flatters their egos to think they are better than others, people they resent for having an education. The Watchtower slams traditional religions, implying that the clergy knowingly deceive people, but they have the "magic cure" in their belief system.
It's the same with those who who don't believe in traditional medicine. It's a common misconception by many, not just JWs, that the drug companies and doctors conspire somehow to deprive people of better cures, that they are invested in people being sick. Of course this is propagated by those with a "miracle cure" of some sort. It's nonsense, but works because it plays into people paranoia and resentment of people with a better education.
That is not to say that all alternative medicine is bunk. I have used meditation, acupuncture and massage therapy, but those are fairly mainstream, with some science to indicate they are effective. You just have to be careful, there is a lot of questionable therapies and the internet is full of misinformation. Most of these cures are being pushed by someone who has a financial stake in it, so that is a red flag.

I don't think it is at all the same. MPD is a very specific diagnosis, if it does exist, those affected have huge gaps in their memory as they actually do not recall acts performed by other personalities. They also exhibit extreme disfunction in their lives, their issues make loving a normal life almost impossible.
I think the cult mind control of the JWs causes people to submerge their natural personality into one that is more acceptable to the organization. Get them away from the constant meetings and that natural personality will come out more, that is why they are so insistent about meeting attendance. But people do remember all events no matter which personality was more evident at the time, and they have normal lives, if you can call being a JW normal.

It does work to a certain extent. There are a lot of people whose would leave if they weren't going to lose their family. It also keeps people from finding out that "The Truth" is actually "The Lie", since those who find out cannot talk to those still in. It also breaks up families, which causes those still in to be more dependent on their relationships in the organization.
The Watchtower doesn't care about those who aren't 100% committed. they would rather they leave, imo.

Seen smoking a cigarette
by Godsendconspirator ini won't say i got "caught" because that would imply i was keeping my habit hidden.
i'm tired of constantly doing that with these guys.
yesterday, my friend and i were waiting for some people and decided to smoke a cigarette to pass the time.

You know how you feel about a child molester ? Well that is how they feel about smoking . Child molester, smoker, child molester, smoker...........it's a toss up
They are far harder on smokers than child molesters, if you believe half the stories out there. -

I don't remember ever hearing about that as a JW, but I was thinking of not drinking this month just to see if I could do it. -

The Noah's ark : What a nonsense!
by coalize in1. a shitty start we don't have to wait more than 4 verses of genesis 6 to put our feet in a big stinky bullshit :.
consequently, jehovah saw that mans wickedness was great on the earth and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.
jehovah regretted that he had made men on the earth, and his heart was saddened.

Why even have a flood in the first place? If God is all knowing and all powerful he could have simply made everyone but Noah disappear. Is he so cruel as to prefer that people suffer and die a horrible death, even children?

It was a very difficult year for me and my family so I am glad it's over. I have been doing lot of thinking about what I want to do in my life, so I have come up with a plan to get me where I want to be. It's going to be hard, but I really think I can do it.
Start doing yoga.
Get my business going again.
Get off of all prescription medications
Practice mindfulness, meditate more.
