well i believe people don't want to believe in god because they are scared.

they know that if they finally do gorge the confidence to believe in him, he might discipline them for their skepticism.

Usual nonsense from people who don't have any idea why I don't believe in God. Rather than being afraid, it was only when I stopped being afraid that I looked at the evidence in an unbiased way and realized there was no evidence that he existed. I actually wanted there to be a God, but the evidence just wasn't there.

how do you convince a jw that every decision that comes from the governing body is not from god?.

my mom who is a pioneer said that the students are getting their work book a month early, then proceeded to say " jehovah knows what we need".. for you who now know ttat what did it take for you?.

Magical thinking is the attribution of causal relationships between actions and events which cannot be justified by reason and observation.

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't the only people to engage in magical thinking, but they do seem to have perfected it into an art form. It must be the cult mind control that causes them to think things must be true because they need them to be. Your mom gets her books early, which helps her, therefore Jehovah must have planned it that way. There is zero evidence that God was involved, but she looks for things that confirm her faith, while discounting things that would tend contradict her beliefs. She needs there to be a God, so she she's evidence where there is none.

I see this kind of thing everywhere, like when people's say that everything happens for a reason. What would be the reason for the holocaust then? Good things happen, bad things happen, there is no plan, nobody is at the controls, no one is ever going to be, however hard that is to accept.

If a woman doesn't fight off a rapist she is guilty of fornication. Even if the rapist has a gun and she fears for her life she cannot submit.

Actually this counsel is for her welfare; for, if she should submit to the man's passionate wishes, she would not only be consenting to fornication or adultery, but be plagued by the shame.

As Jehovah's Witnesses we all thought we belonged to a loving organization that valued truth and justice. It's a bitter pill to swallow that none of these things are important to the them, they only care about quickly getting rid of any individual that they feel threatens them. They do not care about individuals, only about keeping people ignorant of their shameful history and practices. Truth does not matter, justice does not matter, individuals do not matter. It's a cult, that's,what they do.

It's a hard transition to make, losing your friends, family and way of life, but it does get easier. While you cannot replace family, you will make new friends and you will have a better life, free of the control of a heartless cult.

It seems the Watchtower would rather lose these lawsuits than turn over the requested documentation. Obviously whatever is in these documents is potentially more damaging to them than losing millions in judgements. Obviously, what is in there is so damming they stand to lose a substantial number of followers (and more importantly, they money they contribute) if it becomes known.

So true. The bible is simply a collection of stories and opinions written by various men over several centuries. It does not contain any clear, unified message as claimed by the Watchtower. They can only present the illusion of such by selective quoting of isolated scriptures even parts of scripture while adding a lot of convoluted explanations.
