No one has answered your question because it doesn't make any sense. Despite what you think, I didn't stop believing in God because I didn't want to believe him, I actually wanted there to be a god, but I can't believe in something just because it's comforting, or makes me feel better or it's what my parents believed. I even attended church for a while, hoping that some level of faith would return. It didn't. I know what I know. The evidence is overwhelming to me.
I see no evidence of his existence and quite a lot that indicates he doesn't exist. It's like someone demanding you believe in the Easter Bunny. Imagine your question as if it was from an Easter Bunny true believer.

How would you answer that question? You couldn't, because you find the idea of the Easter Bunny to be ridiculous, a children's fable. Even if the special bunny believer said he had some magnificent, secret knowledge or experience that proves to him Bunny exists, you wouldn't believe, it's just not remotely possible. That is exactly how I feel about your claims.
I am glad you are happy in your faith, but I don't understand why you can't conceive of someone simply looking at the evidence and finding it lacking. Frankly, it makes you seem a little odd. I think you mean well, if you aren't pranking us, but you are barking up the wrong tree here.

How condescending of you to presume to decide what truth is. You have a faith, good for you, but it is simply your belief, your truth, not mine. I wanted to believe in God, but I have looked at the evidence and find it wanting.
All you have for evidence is a feeling and your proof is a two thousand year old book that describes a jealous, angry God who approved of slavery, rape and stoning people. So, no thank you.
i saw this coming since my mother-in-law's funeral .... the congregation's "love-bombing" over my wife had its impact.
i watched her drawing closer and closer to her friends in the congregation.
then she decided she would attend the memorial.
This is very sad. Try not to take it personally, it's just shows the power of cult mind control. She obviously knows on some level you are right, but that is being overridden by fear: Fear of dying at Armageddon, fear of the elders, fear of loss of relationships. If I were you I would back away from trying to convince her of anything, it obviously will just makes her more determined.
Try just letting her be for now, but be very loving. She had her own issues with the religion before, perhaps if you back off her more natural personality will come back.
you know, i always maintained that during this fading process, and while learning ttatt, i would not let myself get "bitter twisted and angry".... but, in all honesty, if i examine myself, i have become quite bitter toward the org, toward the false friends and the gb.. i have become angry as i see the extent of damage i feel being raised in "the truth" has done.... i feel hurt towards the lost opportunities in life etc.... how do i not allow myself to get too swallowed up by such bitterness?.
i have always been a very happy, positive, selfless person.
i can put people at ease, i am someone people feel comfortable chatting to.
It's natural to feel bitter under the circumstances, but your goal should be to work through that and eventually put it behind you. It takes as long as it takes. If you are naturally a happy person you will probably be fine, but If you find it is preventing you from enjoying your life then it's time to get professional help.
I also highly recommend meditation, It has, been life changing for me.

i was a convert.
i won't go into the whole history ( perhaps another day) - my story could easily be recognised in the small town where i live, with my husband.. so, we stopped going to the meetings around a period of time when we were going through severe emotional difficulties - at that point, we needed unconditional family love - the hectic, forced jw dinner parties and social occasions gave no real comfort.
((((Hugs))))) back to you Alive. It shouldn't surprise me that you would be treated so poorly, but it does. It makes be both mad and sad. I think the JW mindset is a sort of "survival of the fittest". People have been made to feel their salvation depends on doing everything perfectly, so they don't have time or energy to spare for helping others. Once you falter they will step over on the way to their own salvation.
It's so wrong and counter to what a they claim to be. According to the bible, the mark of true Christians is love. Not door to door preaching, not magazine publishing, but love. You are not the first to suffer from this, in my case I thought i was because my husband was disfellowshipped, but the many experiences I have read tell me that it makes no difference what your situation is, any little deviation from total adherence to Watchtower rules and you are written off, damaged goods, not good enough.
But never mind, however painful that must have been it did lead you here, to the real truth, and now you are free. You should be glad your husband left with you, at least you have that. I am sixty also and I have never been happier. I have been married for fifteen years to the guy I wouldn't date in High School because he wasn't a JW, he is the love of my life and my soul mate. So Iwasted thirty years in this religion, but I got a second chance and I made the most of it.

I see this as an overall win. The Watchtower doesn't care about a few million, they have been happy to pay off victims to hide the fact they do not care about protecting children. The publicity is a problem, they last thing they want is for rank and file to become aware of this.
They can spin this what ever way they want, but the more this is in the news the worse it is for them. Individual JWs are now going to realize they are not contributing to the worldwide work but to the worldwide pedophile defense fund
