Your wife must be worried that you are right about the organization, otherwise she wouldn't be getting so upset.Remind her that she is not showing the fruitage of the spirit as spoken of in Galations. Where is her love, joy, peace, kindness goodness faith, kindness or self control.?

Discussing the RC with a friend and my JW wife was listening.
by Driving Force ini am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.

Labeling one self "Atheist" is Unscientific
by LAWHFol ini have not meet all atheists, and it would be foolish for me to assume that all atheists, share the same prototypical view points.
i am inclined to feel that this classifies the views of a large percentage of atheists.
"atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.

However I still stand by view point, that it is Inappropriate for an Atheist to attempt to Destroy the Beliefs / Faith of another, if the Atheist is non committal.
How is you telling me it's unscientific to label myself atheist any different that my telling you that I see no evidence that God exists? Are you not trying to tear down and destroy my atheism?

The sheer lunacy of Jackson's view regarding mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse.
by DATA-DOG inlunacy?
insanity?

Yes, this is the problem. The Watchtower keeps saying that they contact the authorities when the law requires it, but why do they need a law in order to do the right thing? They can say they hate child abuse all they want, but their actions say they value themselves and pedophiles more than they value victims.
What also bugs me is that elders had knowledge that allowed them to protect their children, but did nothing to protect other children in the congregation. For example, if a person known to have molested children has children themselves, what if they invite another child to spend the night? The elder is going to say no, because why would they risk their child being molested, but other parents would have no way of knowing about it, so they cannot protect their children.

Washington Post Covers the Australia RC investigation
by LisaRose ini came across this story in the washington post.
it's nice to see they are covering the royal commission.
i have a kindle, everyone who buys one gets free six month subscription (it automatically downloads twice a day) to the post , so i imagine this will get read by a lot of people.

Young girls were assaulted by neighbors. Teenagers were raped by their fathers. Victims were forced to pray with their abusers.
When the children reached out for help, the church’s obsession with secrecy and hostility to outsiders kicked in. Victims, ordered to keep quiet, were forced to confront their abusers in person. All complaints — which averaged one a month for 65 years — were carefully recorded in sealed files, along with the church’s by-the-Bible responses. -

The church, which was founded in Pennsylvania during the 1870s to promote a 1st-century interpretation of the Bible, has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, said Anne Cossins, an associate law professor at the University of New South Wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant for the inquiry.
“I find their approach to the issue and victims extraordinarily bizarre — almost medieval,” she said in an interview. -

It's different for each state. I found it for new mexico, but I couldn't get the url to paste right. But just do a search of "New Mexico sex offender registry" it should come up.

Sadly this is a very common scenario among Jehovah's Witnesses. The Watchtower seems to have zero concern for abuse victims or for protecting the public by reporting these creeps to the police.
There is not a lot you can do. If you know the names of his latest victims you can contact the police and let them investigate. If his victims won't testify it's very difficult for them to do anything. If he has ever been arrested he will be a registered sex offender, in which case you can warn people who live near him or who go to his Kingdom hall. The elders will not say anything, but you can be sure they keep their own children away from him.

I'm 16 and I might be pregnant In a JW household
by NYsweet16 inokay, i don't even know where to start.
i'm 16, i live in a strict jw household and i know if i am pregnant (which is a big possibility) ..i know i'm doomed to a life of misery.
not because of my baby but because of my family and the isolation and judgement from the congregation.

1) call a suicide hotline right now. You are worth saving, you can have a great life, you just have to believe and hang on.
2) Contact a battered woman's shelter. What your parents are doing is abuse. They can help you with getting a counselor and tell you what your options are.
3)Talk to your counselor. You can terminate the pregnancy, or chose to go ahead with it, if you are in fact pregnant.
4) If you chose to keep the baby, the counselor can help you break it to your parents and or find a place for you if your parents react badly.
You are not alone. This happens all the time, it's nothing to end your life over. My daughter was suicidal at your age too, but she got through it and now has a fantastic job and is happily married. You can have all this too.

I am so sorry you feel that way. I think you need to talk to your parents. If not about not wanting to be a JW then about the other things. Also, seeing a counselor would really help you to sort through things. You are at a tough age, a lot of kids go through this, mine included, but they got better and now have good lives and you could too.
Don't give up on art school, it's possible even if you don't have a complete education yet. There are free classes on line you can take. Write down your goals and then figure out one or two small things to get started on. I know it's hard when you are so depressed, but try to find the energy to at least tackle one small step toward your goals, it will help you feel better and more in control of your situation.
But it's really, really important to find a caring adult to talk to. You parents might be a little upset at first, but they will get over it, and they would want to know that you are suffering. If you can't talk to them, then find another, non JW, person to talk to. Grandparent, aunt, neighbor. There are probably teen hotlines for depression if you look around. The important thing is to take that first step. You are important, your feelings are important, insist on getting whatever help you need to get through this.
It may seem hopeless right now, but it is not. You will get through this and will have an amazing life.
