It's really great that you managed to get your wife out, that's not always possible, so good for you. Thanks for your research, I keep your notes handy in case I get a chance to talk to some in my family.

what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

jesus said something that only our generation could provide an avalanche of proof.
he said: it is easier for a camel to get through a needles eye than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of god.
(mathew 19:24).
It's easy to blame the wealthy for the world's problems, but it's simplistic and wrong. For example, global warming happened because of our dependence on fossil fuel, and everyone that drives a car contributed to this problem. In fact, many rich people are attempting to find ways to solve this problem, Bill gates, for example. If you are concerned for the environment, stop blaming and start doing your share to fix it. If everyone took responsibility for their own actions we could substantially cut our green house gases.
A few things we as individuals can do:
The next time you purchase a car, get one with the best gas mileage possible. There are several cars that run alternative fuel or that get really great gas mileage. My husband drives a Jetta diesel that gets 47 mpg. He also takes mass transit to work. Just think how much gas would be saved if everyone did this.
Think about what you use and buy on a regular basis. For example, bottled water is very popular. People are more health conscious and are drinking less soda, and bottled water is cheap and convenient, but it's not such a great thing for the environment. Each bottle has to be manufactured which uses fuel, then it has to be transported using more fuel. In most cases it's simply tap water that has been filtered. I use a reusable bottle and fill it with my own great tasting tap water, I save money and the environment. That ten dollars a month that I save not buying tap water I put in a college savings account for my granddaughters.
Reduce, reuse, recycle. I have an antiques business, so I frequently shop at garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores. Thrifting isn't for everybody, but you can save a lot of money by buying used. I buy not only antiques, but supplies for my business, clothes for myself and things for the house. It always amazes me when people get rid of things that are still usable, many times never used or worn. . Clothes that were never worn, furniture that just needs a simple fix, or things they just bought without thinking. This is not only stupid from an environmental standpoint, but is a waste of money.
Of course every one should recycle, but you can help the environment even more by only buying what you need. And when you don't need something anymore, donate it or sell it on Craig's list.
Why by CDs and DVDs when it's so much cheaper and better for the environment to use streaming services, or purchase online. Why buy books when you can get them from the library or in digital format?
Research corporations to find those that are doing more for the environment and give them your business. Become knowledgeable about environmental issues and tell others. Write your current congressman and vote for those who are sensitive to environmental issues.
the word sapiens (from latin, meaning wise) when applied to humans as final evolute, it is understood that humans manifest wisdom in their day-to-day living.
one of the features of being wise (which means having/showing experience, knowledge, and good judgment) is about replacing wastages with something better.
is this being done with regard to many of the greater aspects of our lives?.
I wasted two whole minutes of my life in a futile effort to make sense out of your ridiculous post. I want that time back.
i'm going to tell you of a family i knew of when growing up as a jw.
she was a solo mother who had 2 daughters and these 2 daughters were absolutely stunning both physically and personailty wise.
i remember thinking at the time how commendable it was that such beautiful looking women would choose to stay in the organisation.
I think that sometimes when people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses, it's not because they realize it's a lie, it's because they do not want to conform to the JW way of life. In that case, their leaving is a negative thing in their life, one that does not end up well for them.
Sadly, they are used as an example of what happens when you leave "the truth", not an example of what happens when you make bad decisions. The mind control that is part of being in a cult sometimes affects people long after they leave the cult.
i was sent a list of places i could contact in my part of wa.
i was cautious.
i always ask if they are jws.
it's an article of faith.
either god is going to save them or he is not.
since one local elder proudly told me that he never saved a nickel until just before his retirement, i've given this subject some thought.. savers are worldly..
Many people live as if there will be no tomorrow, but it's irresponsible that an organization encourages them in this stupidity. I never bought that attitude, after the run up to 1975 I decided that it would be smart to save for my retirement, just in case. If they were wrong once, they could be wrong again. Unfortunately I lost a lot of my retirement due to a stock fraud and my company going under, but I still have more than most people my age.
My parents had a secure job with a small house provided for them (in a very nice area of multi million dollar homes) as caretakers for a wealthy woman. Their duties were light, they could always hire others for anything that was too much for them, and I doubt they would have ever lost their home as long as they were alive, but no, they had to go somewhere else where they could spend more time in service. All they had $500 and social security. They moved four times in the next five years. Fortunately my brother had a rental home, he took a loss so they would have a roof over their head.
The organization is irresponsible to pretend that armageddon is imminent and there is no need to save money, and of course they won't help out when the people who took their advice turn up destitute. Naturally, if people do manage to save anything for retirement the organization is happy to take their cash when they die. Hypocrites.
so i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?
People have been trying to get Visa's to leave legally, but they are being denied by most counties. Many Coptic Christians fear for their lives and have no choice but to risk illegal immigration or face certain death if they stay.
Something has to be done. It is reminiscent of the situation for the Jews in pre world war II Germany.
jw governing body claims to be the faithful slave.
did you know how (in sworn testimony during the recent australian royal commission hearing) governing body member geoffrey jackson responded to the question, do you see yourselves as jehovahs spokespeople on earth?.
jackson replied, that, i think, would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.. really?
He was right about one thing, it certainly would be presumptuous to pressume they were the only spokesperson for God, but that is indeed what they claim to be, as any rank and file JW would tell you. It's amazing that Jackson's nose didn't grow longer and longer as he was giving his testimony.

So true Stealth. In a time when good information is so readily available, people choose to believe that which confirms their prejudices. In most cases a few minutes of research would show them that the story they are forwarding has been debunked, but they prefer to live in ignorance. I don't get it. I was forwarded some nonsense about how the term "in God we trust" was removed from the dollar coin. People were outraged! They were told to refuse to accept these godless coins! Thirty seconds of research showed that for a short period, the term was moved to the edge of the coins, not removed, and that it was moved back to the face a year later, all this happened ten years before the email was sent to me. But people do not like to have facts get in the way of their righteous indignation, I was the bad guy for saying anything.
Back to the gay marriage issue. What this woman doesn't seem to understand is that in her duties as an elected official, she is not representing herself. A judge may rule in favor of an organization she finds personally repugnant, but her job as a judge is to uphold the law, that's why the symbol for justice is blindfolded, because the law should be impartial. However she feels about Gay marriage, she swore to uphold the law and execute her duties, she doesn't seem to take that vow seriously. I can respect her right to believe what she wants about Gay marriage, I cannot respect her choice to refuse to carry out her job. She has a choice, to resign, she doesn't have a choice to choose what part of the law she chooses to uphold.
Maybe a few days in a jail cell will give her time to reflect on her choices and either perform her duties or resign from her position.
do you have feelings of hopelessness and fear for not having a religion?.
do you envy happy jehovah witnesses and living their lives carefree?.
O6072015, having read your other threads, it appears to me you are suffering from depression. Please seek professional counseling and get some help for this, there are many things that can be done to help you. I don't think going back to the JWs is going to help you. It may seem like they are happy, but for many, that is an act they put on when they are at the Kingdom Hall, the reality of life at home is much different. Of course some people are happy as JWs, but I suspect they are people that would be happy anywhere, some of us just were not born with the right brain chemistry for that, in which case being a JW just makes you more miserable.
If you want a religious experience there are many churches that can fill a spiritual need without the guilt and burdens of life as a Jehovah's Witness. I personally like the UCC (United Church of Christ) also called Congregational. Their motto is that "wherever you are in life's journey, you are welcome here" and they mean it. But before you do that you simply must address your depression. Please, please call a professional counselor or psychologist.
