What I have been wondering is did the WTBTS lawyers ever try to say that the abuse never took place, or did they acknowledge that it did take place, but it wasn't their fault. I was curious why they didn't call Kendick to testify, or if he even denies that he abused Candace. Possibly someone here more versed in the case could answer that.

Calling all posters! What are YOUR questions for Candace Conti, Rick Simons and Kelly Kraetsch?
by cedars ini am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.
i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.
any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

"the mess in the west"
by Hortensia inlast night the folks on the weather channell were referring to our rainstorm as "the mess in the west.
" they always have to have a catch phrase, don't they.
i understand oregon is getting dumped on, up to a foot of rain in some areas, but we're closer to the southern end of the storm and they say we're just getting a few inches.. anway, isn't rain glorious?

No major problems here in the Bay area, some localized flooding and power outages, but no widespread problems. The sun even came out for a while.
Berengaria, I made chocolate chip cookies today too. I have a kindle also. I just got the Kindle fire a few months ago but it stopped charging. I bought the warranty, even though I don't usually, so I took it back and the upgraded me to the newer Kindle fire HD. It is much better, the screen is a lot clearer, and editing is easier too.

New Chapter, I agree with what you said. I have taken anti-depressants in the past. They work great in the short term, but can become ineffective over time. If you have not addressed some of the thinking patterns that may have led to the problem in the first place, you could be right back where you started. I used to think that taking anti depressants for depression was the same as taking insulin for diabetes. But the situation is more complex than that. Anti depressants do not exactly match the chemical balance of a normal, healthy brain. And negative thought patterns can change the chemical balance of the brain. It's interactive. A bad reaction to the drug Cymbalta forced me to try to approach the problem differently, and start working at the thought patterns that contributed to my depressed state.
It is not just thinking positive, it is more complex and difficult than that. In my case, it was learning to forgive myself for my mistakes, something that was my nature, but was aggravated by my upbringing and by being a JW.Not that I am against anti-depressants, they can be a life saver, especially in the short term.

I don't know whet you usually do at Christmas, but I have found that some years I am more into it than others. I thing the shorter days at that time can cause some seasonal depression. If that is the case for you getting out and getting some sun would help. I live on the west coast, so we are in a major storm, no sun since Wednesday, and I can tell the diffence. I find that fish oil and B vitamins help with that.If that is not the case, well I think your granddaughters will be OK if you do a little less this year. The best gift you can give them is your time, they will remember that more than if your house looks like Santa's workshop. Have a special Xmas story to read to them or watch an Xmas movie. Take them to see a neighborhoid light display.
You don't have to do everything you did before. If you usually bake cookies, buy some festive cookies at the grocery store instead. Scale back the decorations to the minimum. I don't put everything out every year myself, it keeps things feeling fresh. One quick easy tip is to get trimmings from the tree lot, they will usually let you have them for free even if you don't buy a tree. Lay them on a mantle with some twinkle lights, simple, cheap, easy and smells great. Order gifts online. I use Amazon, they even gift wrap if you want, they suggest gifts by age, quite a time and energy saver.

I am in the East Bay also, it seems the Center of the storm just passed over, it is starting to lighten up. The dopler on CBS is interesting, solid green with red in the Center.

I do a lot of shopping on line. Amazon has all my addresses on file, and my cc info. It's great especially with the grandkids as the suggest toys by age. They even giftwrap. Then we take a day and go to an area with a historic downtown and good non chain shops and buy a few more smaller things for each person. This is fun shopping, for unique things. These places usually also have pretty lights and decorations too, so we enjoy that. Its not about the money, its that we enjoy buying things for our family. If I didn't enjoy it or couldn't afford it, I would just send cookies and call it good. I don't think the adult kids really care all that much about it, its really more for me. For our other family (siblings and parents) its food, plants or restuarant gift certificates, ordered online. We are all at that age where we don't need anymore things, but who doesn't like to eat?

It takes a while before the JW brainwashing to wear off, they have conditioned you to fear leaving. The logical part of your brain tells you that this organization is wrong, but the more primitive part of your brain is reacting to the fear. Fear produces adrenalin, which causes sweating, shakes, etc. That is why you have conflicting emotions. Once you leave, that fear gradually goes away, as it is not based on logic, and you are no longer getting that fear reinforced by the meetings.

Rain has started here in the San Francisco bay area, but mostly wind at this point, scared the cat though. We are supposed to get six inches overnight, and continuing through the weekend. I moved back to California two years after 10 years in Colorado, so I am just happy not to have snow, rain doesn't bother me.

BUNGI BILL: If successful, I would feel a certain sense of satisfaction from achieving this on the 40th anniversary of their making me abandon my apprenticeship. Anybody want to wish me luck?
Wow, that is great, good luck to you. I am about your age, and I believe its never too late to be what you might have been. Some doors maybe closed to you, but other doors may open, if you are ready for it. I lost my job several years ago, and I decided to take a chance and have my own business. It has been a bumpy ride and I have had my ups and downs, but I am glad I took a risk. I have scaled back due to health issues, but it is the type of thing I can do part time. I also started recently doing volunteer work. I am blessed to have a spouse who sees the value in both my creative business and my volunteer work. Recent studies have shown that our brains are capable of forming new neural pathways and trimming old ones, no matter how old we are.
The only thing worse than having a religion steal a big
chunk of your life, is having it steal your entire life.
