I am glad you had such a good response from the royal commission. I am sure there will be many come forward because of this. -

True believers never save their money
by stillin init's an article of faith.
either god is going to save them or he is not.
since one local elder proudly told me that he never saved a nickel until just before his retirement, i've given this subject some thought.. savers are worldly..

Many people live as if there will be no tomorrow, but it's irresponsible that an organization encourages them in this stupidity. I never bought that attitude, after the run up to 1975 I decided that it would be smart to save for my retirement, just in case. If they were wrong once, they could be wrong again. Unfortunately I lost a lot of my retirement due to a stock fraud and my company going under, but I still have more than most people my age.
My parents had a secure job with a small house provided for them (in a very nice area of multi million dollar homes) as caretakers for a wealthy woman. Their duties were light, they could always hire others for anything that was too much for them, and I doubt they would have ever lost their home as long as they were alive, but no, they had to go somewhere else where they could spend more time in service. All they had $500 and social security. They moved four times in the next five years. Fortunately my brother had a rental home, he took a loss so they would have a roof over their head.
The organization is irresponsible to pretend that armageddon is imminent and there is no need to save money, and of course they won't help out when the people who took their advice turn up destitute. Naturally, if people do manage to save anything for retirement the organization is happy to take their cash when they die. Hypocrites.

Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe
by Powermetal4ever inso i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

People have been trying to get Visa's to leave legally, but they are being denied by most counties. Many Coptic Christians fear for their lives and have no choice but to risk illegal immigration or face certain death if they stay.
Something has to be done. It is reminiscent of the situation for the Jews in pre world war II Germany.

Nice little summary by Barbara Anderson re dear old Geoffrey GB and "presumptuousness"...
by umbertoecho injw governing body claims to be the faithful slave.
did you know how (in sworn testimony during the recent australian royal commission hearing) governing body member geoffrey jackson responded to the question, do you see yourselves as jehovahs spokespeople on earth?.
jackson replied, that, i think, would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.. really?

He was right about one thing, it certainly would be presumptuous to pressume they were the only spokesperson for God, but that is indeed what they claim to be, as any rank and file JW would tell you. It's amazing that Jackson's nose didn't grow longer and longer as he was giving his testimony.

So true Stealth. In a time when good information is so readily available, people choose to believe that which confirms their prejudices. In most cases a few minutes of research would show them that the story they are forwarding has been debunked, but they prefer to live in ignorance. I don't get it. I was forwarded some nonsense about how the term "in God we trust" was removed from the dollar coin. People were outraged! They were told to refuse to accept these godless coins! Thirty seconds of research showed that for a short period, the term was moved to the edge of the coins, not removed, and that it was moved back to the face a year later, all this happened ten years before the email was sent to me. But people do not like to have facts get in the way of their righteous indignation, I was the bad guy for saying anything.
Back to the gay marriage issue. What this woman doesn't seem to understand is that in her duties as an elected official, she is not representing herself. A judge may rule in favor of an organization she finds personally repugnant, but her job as a judge is to uphold the law, that's why the symbol for justice is blindfolded, because the law should be impartial. However she feels about Gay marriage, she swore to uphold the law and execute her duties, she doesn't seem to take that vow seriously. I can respect her right to believe what she wants about Gay marriage, I cannot respect her choice to refuse to carry out her job. She has a choice, to resign, she doesn't have a choice to choose what part of the law she chooses to uphold.
Maybe a few days in a jail cell will give her time to reflect on her choices and either perform her duties or resign from her position.

feeling of hopelessness and fear

O6072015, having read your other threads, it appears to me you are suffering from depression. Please seek professional counseling and get some help for this, there are many things that can be done to help you. I don't think going back to the JWs is going to help you. It may seem like they are happy, but for many, that is an act they put on when they are at the Kingdom Hall, the reality of life at home is much different. Of course some people are happy as JWs, but I suspect they are people that would be happy anywhere, some of us just were not born with the right brain chemistry for that, in which case being a JW just makes you more miserable.
If you want a religious experience there are many churches that can fill a spiritual need without the guilt and burdens of life as a Jehovah's Witness. I personally like the UCC (United Church of Christ) also called Congregational. Their motto is that "wherever you are in life's journey, you are welcome here" and they mean it. But before you do that you simply must address your depression. Please, please call a professional counselor or psychologist.

I respect those who disagree with his politics, what I am talking about is those who seem to have a deep visceral hatred of him that causes them to blame him for everything and anything. The fact is the POTUS doesn't have that much power or control over everything that happens in Washington. And the belief that he is a Muslim, simply because he was born and lived ten years in a Muslim country is absurd. The gay bathhouse and murder conspiracy theories are beyond absurd. But you cant reason with people like that, they are going to believe what they believe.
But this is a thread about Gay marriage, let's get back to that.

No, no hopelessness and fear at all, why would I feel that? I'm loving life and having a great time.
You must have been in a different congregation than me, I don't remember many of them being happy at all. One elder in the last congregation beat his wife and killed himself when his children took her away from him in fear for her life. Yeah, don't remember the happy.

I don't know what it is about Obama that makes certain people froth at the mouth. It's just a never ending circus of fools, you cant read any message board about anything without some nut chiming in with "thanks Obama". They have no facts, they read it on some fishy conspiracy blog on the internet, so it's God's honest truth, confirmation bias in action. I am looking forward to the time when they all start saying "thanks Hillary" and talking about her lesbian, Muslim lover. At least it will be a change.
Seriously, thank God they put that woman in jail, now her people can do their jobs.

Rightly so, many in America see the supreme court ruling as being an illegal ruling.
They are obviously wrong. The supreme court decides what is legal, that is their only function. That some people don't like what they decided is completely irrelevant. Some people didn't like school desegregation, women voting, equal pay for women, etc., so what? Who cares what a bunch of backwards Neanderthals think?
Once President Obama is out of office and is free to go back to his gay bath houses as private citizen
Oh, so the president is gay as well as a Muslim? Lol.
, a new president may force the supreme court stop making politically influenced decisions that have little constitutional basis.
That's hilarious, you obviously have zero understanding of how the government works. The president cannot force the supreme court to do anything.
No matter how hard the gays tried to reprogram humanity into accepting gay marriage, I believe that if straight people were honest with themselves and could vote their conscience, they would overrule the supreme court.
I am straight, honest and 100% support the rights of gays to get married.
You have absolutely no knowledge of how the supreme court works, do you? Nobody can overrule the supreme court. Supreme, get it?
You are a perfect example of the type of person who has a problem with gay marriage. You have no understanding of how the government works, no knowledge or understanding of this issue and you only see things from your own narrow perspective. What possible difference could it make to you that gay people can marry? Does it threaten your marriage or take away your rights? Gay people just want the same rights you have, to marry the person they love and have the legal protection of marriage as regards inheritance, property rights, child custody and hospital visitation. None of that threatens or harms you in any way, so why do you care?
