My head is still filled with a lot of useless facts, but I can't remember if I took my medication five minutes ago. I once won a Trival pursuit game because I knew who won the democratic primary in 1968 in New Hampshire. While that was fun, when am I ever going to need that information again? I would be glad to trade all that trivia knowledge for my short term memory. -

If you asked a hundred scientists who work in palentology they would all disagree, but sure, believe the one scientist that doesn't even work in that field, because denial works for you. -

Cracked under pressure
by breezy ina big problem i have always had when talking about anything related to jw teachings, is that i get aggravated and frustrated when logical black and white concepts/scriptures are not seen/interpreted in a logical way.
it really frustrates me having to hear '' oh no this does not apply here '' in every scripture that i bring to my parents attention.
starting from when i was 16 to about 20, my frustrations would lead to these anger fits.

It's understandable that you are frustrated, but It might help if you can think of it in a different way. Your parents might not have read your research because they are brushing you off, they may just be scared that you are right and they are not ready to accept that right now.A cult member will do a lot of things to avoid uncomfortable truths.
Apologize to you parents, and accept and love them as they are. The fact is they may never wake up, and if they do, it will be in their own time, at their own pace, just as you left when you were ready. Peace comes with acceptance of things as they are, not how we want them to be.

I think people always had pride in the organization, how efficient it was, how organized. They may not have understood why things were done a certain way, but they trusted that the GB knew what they were doing and were under Jehovah's direction, and that the work that was so important would always get done. It must be quite a shock to be confronted with obvious signs that they might not actually know what they are doing. One or two things could be ignored, but there are so many signs of trouble it's getting harder and harder to pretend that everything is fine. -

ATT: WARNING
by EJ257 inplease be aware of everything that is happening around the world at this moment in time.
this goes to anyone, ex-communicated, removed, serving, believer and non.
at this point in my observations i have realized many religions/ideologies know there is some sort "end of time" or a transition into a new order of living in this earth.

The world was supposed to end in 1897, 1914, 1925, 1975, then before the generation alive in 1914 passed away, now three overlapping generations. The Watchtower has a zero success rate in predicting Armageddon, so the chances of them being right now is zero, if they were even predicting the end, which I doubt.
Another day, another crackpot preaching the coming apocalypse. -

I have been informed that if u are df and you appeal the decision and you loose appeal
by poopie inthe elders will keep you out longer as payback for you appealing their decision how dare you peon appeal the secret weapons design you stupid publisher.
-

If you appeal it might look to them as if you are not repentant, so I think it's possible they would hold up your being reinstated, but it probably depends on the elders involved.
It's a game that is hard to win, the deck is stacked against you from the get go. It's like being suspected of a crime, they have proven that once a cop becomes convinced you are guilty they will discount anything that would prove your innocence and focus only on the evidence of guilt. It's basic human nature to justify a decision.

Mormons vs. Jehovah's Witnesses
by Downtowner inforgive me if this has been covered before but i haven't seen anything about it recently.. in exploring the two faiths, mormons vs. jehovah's witnesses, which were both founded in the 1800s with the mormons being slightly a slightly older religion it seems mormons is a more attractive religion than jehovah's witnesses.
do not get me wrong, i'm not looking at joining the mormon church.
but i still enjoy studying other faiths and different belief systems.

The culture is very similar, a cult is a cult. They offer a few benefits that the JWs don't, they don't discourage higher education for one thing, but then they don't allow alcohol or coffee and they make you wear ugly underwear with symbols on them. When I was a JW I used to think they were so weird, and I couldn't understand how anyone could believe such nonsense, now I realize they are just different flavors of crazy, I am sure the Mormons think the same of the JWs.
My daughter in law is a former Mormon, she was on a mission when she realized she didn't believe in what she was teaching people. I have to say her parents are far more tolerant that the typical JW parent would be about it. Our granddaughter is getting baptized in the UCC church and her parents are flying across the country to attend, I can't imagine any JW parent doing that.

Other religions keep track of the elderly or sick. People volunteer to make food, visit, take people on appointments, it's considered a part of being a congregation, it's one of the benefits of a religious community. They also help the homeless and poor, even if not part of the congregation. I remember when they used to do this a little, but even that fell by the wayside in favor of field service. Nothing is important as their ministry, even though it's now rare to make converts and most of the time spent is wasted anyway. I used to talk to one or two people a morning tops. There is no love or caring in the congregations, the elders spend their time pushing people to do more and Disfellowshiping.
As the bible says, by their fruits you will know them.

For the Supporters of Those Who Love Jehovah
by lovesjehovah ini am jehovah's witness, despite some of the questionable teachings, crimes, and other outlandish behaviors of specific people affiliated with the religion.
i know that my relationship with jehovah is not influenced by any outside factors.
i do not condone any crime.

I don't believe in God anymore, but I don't see why everyone has to be so harsh. For a while after leaving I left open the possibility of God, I still occasionally prayed, I wasn't yet ready to embrace atheism, I had already lost faith in the Watchtower, thinking that there might still be a God l gave a certain amount of comfort. Losing your faith is a hard thing, it doesn't happen overnight, at least it didn't for me.The people criticising you went through their spiritual journey and embraced atheism in their own time, now they are putting you down following your own spiritual path.
Loves Jehovah, if it makes you happy to still believe in God, then do. I am all for what works . You may change your mind later, or you may not, but either way don't let what others say take away your joy. I would suggest you consider other religions, I think you would be happier in a religion that accepted you for who you are. I like the United Church of Christ, sometimes called Congregational (not the regular Church of Christ, they are no better than the JWs). They have no doctrine, and welcome all, plus they tend to have great music. Once you went to one of their services you would never sit through a dry, boring meeting again.
Take care
Lisa🌹
