Not really panicky. By the time I stepped down from being an elder and actually sat and listened to the meetings instead of being involved in presenting them, I realized just how boring and lacking in spirit they really were. It didn't take long before going felt worse than not going.

Is Bethel...The House of a Pagan God?

beth meant house and el was god.
so bethel means "house of god".

d.boon - "why don't we do it the last weekend of November the 29th or 30th. How close to Boston do you want to do this? Cambridge, Everett, There's a cool looking Chinese place out on rt1 in Saugus called Kalhoons. or is that to far north?" -- I'm driving down from North Conway to Kittery on the 29th. How about the 30th. BTW, there was a fire at Kowloon's just the other day. Not too much damage though.

As of tomorrow I will no longer be a JW
by passwordprotected inafter my last post where i asked for advice on how to handle whether i should tell an elder that we've been going to church, i decided to tell a local elder who's related to me through marriage.
this was to save my dad having to 'report' me (i'd told my dad we go to church).
anyway, i had an interesting chat with him and he said some very personally revealing things re.

Hi Mark, I sent a testimony letter to 70 of my old JW friends. That got me a call from the elders asking if I were disassociating myself. When I said no then told me that since I "had gone over the the Baptists" that was sufficient to announce me as having disassociating myself. I told them "it's not about the Baptists, it's about Christ." At that point they invited me to meet with them to face charges of apostasy. I told them I would think about it and a couple days later I sent them a 5 page legal letter. I haven't heard from them since. ...
