  seriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.

  i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.

  ) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

  After recounting incidents of persecution in Ethiopia,the 1/1/95
  issue of The Watchtower,page 6,para 8,said:

  “Satan has failed to crack the integrity of such loyal brothers and sisters by direct frontal attack. So,what other crafty devices does he employ? Revelation 12:12 says of these last days:“Woe for the earth and for the sea,because the Devil has come down to you,having great anger,knowing he has a short period of time.”Having failed to annihilate God’s loyal people by persecutions,in his anger he attempts to massacre entire populations,no doubt with a view to destroying Jehovah’s people along with the rest. Thus so-called ethnic cleansing has been carried out in parts of the former Yugoslavia,and genocides have been attempted in Liberia,Burundi,and Rwanda.”

  How is it that well educated and financially stable people become Jehovah's Witnesses?

  when i was growing up most of the jws around me were poor and lower middle class.

  some were middle class, but very few were upper middle class.

  only (maybe) about 1% were college educated.

  Most recent Society lies about 1914?

  as i'm sure we all know, the society has lied repeatedly in the past about what they preached regarding 1914 in the run up to that year, claiming that what was preached was that jesus was to become king in that year and his presence was to begin then etc, when in fact they were preaching that all this had already happened in 1874 and that the end of the world would come in 1914.. .

  but does anyone know if they have repeated this lie about what they supposedly preached recently?

  when was the last time they claimed this?

  i have heard quite a bit about the july 15th watchtower magazine on this sie.

  so i went and downloaded it and read several of the articles.. page 16 paragraph 6 states : "well, apostates are mentally diseased,and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings".

  how horrible, they seem to know sooo much about menal health !.

  Rick, this former elder had no problem with it ;-)

  PC, we weren't going for an Oscar on this one. :-)

  It was just a little skit we threw together over lunch to present at the conference. It was not about having a great screenplay or about serious acting or cinematography; it was about having a bit of fun while poking fun at the WT.
