Hell -- Traditionalist vs Conditionalist Views
I didn't get permission from the writers of the two books being compared when I put this together in the early 80s, but they both liked it so much they gave me post-print permission! I didn't sell it until some wanted it in book form, but it was always free on my site. I was respectful to both views, but I wrote it just to win the bet against a well-known intelligent disfellowshipped member of the "anointed." Carlin Venus. Never heard from him again.
I went to Israel around 1984 and did much more study on the subject and visited the Valley of Hinnom, excavations, holy books, the Talmud, etc. Academia.edu likes this book, as few writers ever wrote on the delicate subject of God's joy in looking forward to loving watching sinners on the grill and looking on with glee forever and ever. How people can believe that blasphemy is beyond me. Hippies don't read the Bible. I didn't really care what imaginary punishments it contained. But I like to write objectively from a historical standpoint.
In this case the purpose served was to demonstrate how dishonest the Watchtower "scholars" really are and were. It was compiled over 400 years by men by VOTE. I vote no on hell. :-)) We were anarchists. SOCIETY was hell. BTW the Jews were never really afraid of the devil. In fact, they also had several archangels! Not all of them were nice. It took Christians, borrowing heavily from the pagans (and some Jews) around them to come up with Gehenna, Tartarus, and the Lake of Fire... all nonsense. Even Dante's Inferno was a cartoon to bug the popes! No "shades" or ghosts of dead people? Your Bible has wrongly translated several Hebrew and Greek words as simply "hell" but there are several words like "rephaim" which tell the whole story. Try the New American Standard Bible, with the footnotes that tell more.
Wikipedia says more: The New American Standard Bible is widely regarded as the most literally translated of 20th-century English Bible translations. [3] According to the NASB's preface, the translators had a "Fourfold Aim" in this work:
The NASB is a revision of the American Standard Version of 1901. This translation was an alternative to the Revised Standard Version(1946–1952/1971), itself a revision of the ASV, but considered by many to be theologically liberal. [5] Buy " Everyman's Talmud " from a Jewish book store or Amazon, etc. Ancient early synagogues in the Holy Land have the signs of the zodiac in tiles decorating them. There was no "body of elders" in the early congregations, but the older men did take the lead. The WT (mainly Fred Franz) has taught you so many lies it will take you a lifetime to sort them out. Almost NONE of what they believe today was believed by the early church 100-200 AD. There was NO GOVERNING BODY EVER.
by Randall Watters 108-page 8 1/2 x 11 book comparing conditionalist and traditionalist views as argued by Dr. Robert Morey (Death and the Afterlife) versus the views of Edward W. Fudge ( The Fire That Consumes ) side-by-side, point-by-point, and key passages from the Bible bearing on the comparison are considered. Topical notes on Body, Judgment and Resurrection, Death, Gehenna, Hades, Hell, Sheol, Soul and Spirit. Appendix (other resources bearing on the study). Use of passages approved by both authors. Coil bound.
I sincerely hope that you will gain a better understanding of the Bible and the times in which it was written as you read this unique comparison. Does Luke 16 really teach a burning hell? What does the Intertestamental literature have to say on hell? Where did "Tartarus" come from? Are the angels being punished? What did the Pharisees in Jesus' day believe about hell?

hello jwn, i have started a blog series on the new freeminds site.
it will discuss the harmful effects of the watchtower society's doctrine and policies on the minds and hearts of children.
it is my hope that the blog can serve as a resource for thinking jehovah's witness parents who wish to understand the true nature of watchtower doctrine and policy.. introduction to watchtower trauma-based mind control.
Excellent, thanks bro.
Looking forward to your great talents!
We have a whole new set of bloggers coming up in the next few weeks at http://freeminds2.org.
All the pre-2010 articles and info is already archived at http://freeminds.us and will remain unedited... these are the 3-4 gigs of files since 1996.

In the 70s, we did a lot of cost accounting in the Pressroom as overseers, even took trips to the US Govt. printing office in D.C. to see if we could keep using letterpress. (NO).
With overhead, employee costs, MACHINE DEPRECIATION, etc. it cost the WT (back then) about $1 each to make the NWT in large quantities. Of course, in the ROTARY pressroom, the minumum run was 1 million up to 5 million for a new version. Being in charge of ALL rotary Bible printing from 1976 to 1980, I supervised (and printed many) of over 100 million NWTs. I have a whole cost accounting sheet that 3 of us helped compile to try and convice the heads of the factory to move to offset printing. We had to figure ALL the hidden costs. Magazines cost 5 cents each (was "incidentally" the pioneers' cost) and sold for 25 cents. Most books were a 4-500% markup. If you have a green bomb, I may have printed it.
Binding was a large percentage of the cost, as was the cigarette paper at $500 a roll. Now that they got rid of the casemakers (cover makers) and just use paperback, it cut down the cost of workers a lot. Our waste factor (on Bibles, not mAGS) WAS ABOUT 15-20% DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE RUN. fOR CONVENTIONS. Horrendously high, and offset printing eliminated that later. (Only applied to books printed on cigarette paper - acid free).
A new release of ANY book was 5-8 million first run for conventions. $$$$$. We were listed as having the 7 highest number of printed books in the world in the Guiness book of records back then. Only the Bible (ALL bIBLES, NOT JUST THE nwt) WERE FIRST, THEN mAO'S LITTLE RED BOOK (CAN'T FIND ONE NOW!). ONE DAY's production made a STACK TWICE AS TALL AS THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!
Sorry I can't type well, I need new glasses and my left hand is going out again, so on to Dragon Naturally Speaking). :-))

oh well, can't get the pics right, sorry!
Foursquare let us do our own thing. We had a church of 35, half were ex-JWs, we traveled the world to Australia, Japan, etc for weeks at a time.
We rented a little building for a church. I was never paid by the church... I paid a secretary and I ran Bethel Ministries. We served Margaritas at the back of the church because I brought my blender (I'm well-known for them in El Porto/Manhattan Beach) after church (evening service) and then I took three or four of the girls and maybe one other guy dancing at the Radisson Hotel in Manhattan Beach. LOL. One of my girlfriends was a stunt woman for Farrah Fawcett, looked a lot like her!

Here's some nostalgia:
I even became a Foursquare pastor for several years and travelled the world teaching churches.
