Hi, I have a problem with drinking. maybe it is more with depression. Has anyone out there been able to conquer this without the whole institution, 6 week program? I don't really want to check myself into a clinic but feel like I am kiiling myself in the meantime. How did you stop or make it moderate on your own. Feedback very appreciated.

If I could just move past the thoughts that it is wrong to go to another church or organization.

Hi, I need some help here, if possible. I have been depressed, drinking and just got myself in a mess. I know I can pull out of it, but feel that Spirituality is important to me. I don't believe the Witnesses are the answer and will just add to my problems. I have been wanting to go to a Church that was recommended to me by some clients. It seems really upbeat and fun and may just be the answer to help me. I guess the service is less than two hours half consisting of singing along with a live modern Christian band. This really sounds like something I could enjoy. Here is what I can't overcome...every Saturday I decide I am going to get up and go Sunday, but then I just can't make myself, because I think what if this really is wrong or the unforgivable sin, etc. etc. I have also just thought about getting a second and part time job to fill my time, but my current full time job is not really predictable and what ever part time job I got would pretty much have to let me be very flexible. I feel getting involved in a Christian Church would be my best answer but just can't do it. Has anyone out there overcome these feelings and how? Thanks for any input.

What Did You LOVE About Being a Jehovah's Witness?
by Seeker4 inok. minimus had his 'what did you hate about being a jw' thread, so i want to take a different tack on this.
i'll even start it.
i loved some of the get-togethers we had.

I loved the breaks during field service. Hot donuts, coffee chatting away. I liked riding around doing return visits on cold mornings, because mostly nobody was home and it was just social hour. I liked compliments on my talks and dressing up...and wearing slits as high up as I could. I felt kind of naughty lol. My Mom used to pin the slits low then I would go to the bathroom when she wasn't looking, take the safety pin out and cross my legs with the side slit riding way up, then swing my legs. I loved that. My little rebel side. lol

letter about relying on bookstudy
by Kaytam inbeen out for a while and still a little confused.
i was just told that a letter was read at this week's service meeting saying that witnesses should be prepared to rely on their bookstudy groups.
natural disasters were mentioned and i guess some folks are feeling that this is due to approaching persecution and banning.

thanks all. Just read the thread from Allen F about knocking. It reminded me of the first times I started researching. It is so easy to doubt oneself when you hear about things like this letter and still have family in. Then you read that post and you remember why you first made the decision that you should leave. If anyone has not read that thread, they should

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

Blondie, that is a good link from the Red Cross. I am very fortunate to live in an area where there is not huge risk of natural disasters. But all the stuff going on in the world is scary and could affect anyone anywhere. Well have a great Sunday!

How being a JW affected me as a person
by keo15929 innot long ago i bet no one from this site would have been able to stand me for 2 seconds.
i was one of the most fiercest jws of all time.
i'd argue until i was blue in the face and i was darn good at it to.

I believe in Christianity and feel that so many times, people leave the Watchtower and then leave Christ. Search your heart and find a middle ground. There is written evidence of Christ and he does and did exist Don't let your past experiences turn you away from him!
