  April "Pioneers" - a large army

  anecdotally , from my ( rapidly diminishing number of ) jw contacts , it does seem that the april 30 hour pioneer campaign is going well.

  some congregations have over 1/2 the publishers on the pioneer list for april , including all the elders & ms. .

  In 3 south central U.S. congregations

  • 70% signed up in Cong A
  • 67% signed up in Cong B
  • 58% signed up in Cong C

  There are about 10 other congregations in the circuit. I haven't heard their exact numbers, but through the grapevine more than half have signed up for Aux Pio.

  The WTS must have realized the last couple years of campaigns (Kingdom tract campaigns, Dist Conv invites, etc.) was wearing thin. This new "campaign" has infused the publishers like nothing else as of late...at least in this part of the country.

  he was single, she was married to another brother in the same hall.

  In regards to works that befit repentance, the 1991 Elder manual poses the question, "Has he made restitution, expressed willingness to do so, or apologized to offended persons, those damaged by his sinful course?"

  When I was an elder, the BOE and Judicial Committees often considered this point when someone wanted to be reinstated. I'm not saying the OP's mother is correct in her assessment, but considering how some congregations tend to be rumor mills, she may not be too far from the truth.

  The new Elder manual doesn't ask all of the questions regarding repentance/reinstatement as the old manual did, but I'm sure a lot of elders out there still have the old questions ingrained...is the person cooperative, are his answers forthright, is he trying to fool the congregation, does he have remorse over reproach on God's people, etc.

  My Marriage Ending...Or Other Options

  i don't usually post regarding my personal relationship, but i need some help.. i've been married for 20+ years (married young, both of us raised as witnesses), and my wife and i have kids.

  my wife feels like i've disappointed her, made a fool of her, and betrayed her when i stopped being a witness.

  other than the witness-thing we seem to have a pretty good marriage, but she can't get over the fact that i'm never going to be a witness again.

  Thank you for all of the comments and suggestions. I haven't been reading the board, had to take a break and get away with the family for a few days.

  Aside from the religion my wife and I share several interests and have common goals. As a point of clarification...when I said we have arguments about religion I didn't mean that I am trying to convince my wife to stop being a Witness. I understand that is her right and I don't think it is fair to ask her to stop doing something she enjoys. The arguments are about why I don't go to the KH anymore/serve as an elder/So-and-so asked about you and I had to tell them...etc. Such heated and emotional arguments over things that don't even matter in the long run.

  Over the last few days we've had some calmer discussions. I understand her world was turned upside down and it has been difficult for her to adjust over the months. I think part of the problem is that I am a bit more change-oriented, while she likes a comfortable routine. This is just something I have to get a better grasp on.

  And to any lurkers, especially those from the Topix board...I am not an adulterer, crackhead, or any of the other titles you plastered me with. I've been on this board for awhile and don't mind asking advice from some decent folks. I don't have all the answers, so I've asked for help in real life and on this board. I'm not airing my dirty laundry, since most lurkers/posters don't know me personally. And some of the advice given may benefit others.

  When I have a moment I'll go back and try to address specific questions in case anyone is still interested.

Other than the Witness-thing we seem to have a pretty good marriage, but she can't get over the fact that I'm never going to be a Witness again. The fights over religion are bad, and everyone is hurting.

  I don't know what to do. I want a relationship, but I'm so tired of the drama. I can't do this anymore...I want out. She says I'm being selfish. I don't want to be a selfish husband/father...I've seen that in my other male relatives. I tell her I love her and I try to show it, but if I'm not doing the Witness-thing then I'm not doing the thing she wants most. She doesn't ask for a lot.

  I just do not know what to do. I wish I could figure this out. I wish I could make her see.

  Please help...

  Is A 'Moderate' Opinion of the Governing Body Possible?

  radical circumstances push people into extreme frames of mind.. it seems to me that, for some time now, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses has been surrounded by increasingly more difficult circumstances and hardships.

  they have cut magazines, literature, sold off real estate, dumped long term bethelites, dumped paid subscriptions, railed against facebook, condemned college attendance, and begun to sell off branch offices.. a moderate, reasonable viewpoint of these changes is easy to come up with: the rank and file are broke, burned-out and dispirited.

  furthermore, the increasing depth of these changes would push any reasonable person to conclude that the organization is in quiet decline - far from any realization of heavenly intervention.. the above would logically push a reasonable person towards the conclusion that the 130 year doomsaying history of the watchtower society is a pious fraud at best.

  I have a few relatives that are still serving as elders or at Bethel. They believe their own hype. In the week long KM schools being held in various places around the U.S. the same hardline rants against education, DF members, congregation procedures are being taught.

  The incessant drumming up of this system's end is reaching a fevered pitch. The folks running the show have so much invested, and believe in the Organization as God's tool that they have no other options. There is no moderation, reform, or anything of the like coming any time soon.

  The entire situation is sad.

  WTBTS Elder & Ministerial Servant Problems

  i attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.

  in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.

  the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.

  Last month in my wife's congregation 2 were appointed MS and 1 was appointed Elder.

  When I was still on the BOE, we recommended the 2 for MS, but they would always come back rejected by WTS. The reasons for rejection have not changed, yet they were still appointed.

  The 1 appointed Elder was never recommended by the BOE in the past because of missing too many meetings (in fact the BOE considered removing him as a MS on a couple of CO visits). According to my wife he still misses congregation meetings and is rarely at the meetings for field service, he simply shows up in the territory.

  It is obvious the WTS is in need of appointed brothers. These appointments would never have been made just a few years ago. I think the WTS wants the publishers to think there is still growth and brothers are reaching out and qualifying for greater "privileges". When the truth of the matter is that the WTS is desperate and they are lowering the bar.

  The organisation wants our money

  has anyone heard that at the end of the theocratic service meeting last night the organisation asked for money, pensions, properties, shares, insurance policies in fact anything of any financial value?.

  it upset some people attending the meeting.. .

  They give this talk annually. It is based on the WT article that comes out every year that explains the "Charitable Planning" arrangement..."leave us your property, pension, life insurance, etc when you die."
