My wife and her aunt are pretty upset. They said at the last couple of meetings for service and congregation meetings the elders kept announcing they want 100% participation and even had attendants passing out applications. My wife and her aunt are pretty hardcore and were considering aux pio, but the incessant push actually turned them off. Thanks BOE.

Will higher gas prices cause a policy change (New Light) re. field service?
by doinmypart inwill higher gas prices bring about some new light regarding field service?.
in the part of the u.s. where i live most of the territories require driving long distances.
some congregation members are unemployed and many are retired/living on limited income.

I hear what everyone is saying, but they made other adjustments due to fuel costs...the way mags & lit are distributed from Branch-->Assembly Halls-->Congregation, combined meetings and shuffling district lines.
They have to know that more money spent on gas for field service means less money for donations. Maybe field service doesn't "cost" the WTS much at this point (most of the cost is on the R&F), but surely it has to be a liability in some form or fashion.
Perhaps this is a situation where the members will vote with their wallet and not go out as often. I know WTS pushes phone witnessing and other alternatives, but no one wanted to do any of those things when I was still in.

What level must gas prices reach per gallon before New Light comes down? $4.00, $4.50, $5.00, $5.50, or Prices won't affect policy. What do you think? (Sorry, I don't know equivalent prices in other countries)

If CCoJW has $2.9m in district convention expenses, why are convention delegates instructed to make donations to "Watch Tower" and not CCoJW?
Does WTS have any convention expenses?

CCoJW had $2,927,503 in District Convention expenses. Now I understand how profitable the conventions are for the WT. Those expenses are nothing compared to what they bring in donations.

Disney lifts beard ban. When will WTS?
by doinmypart indisney has finally lifted their 55-year beard ban.
in conversations, an elder/relative would use disney as an example of a business that prohibited beards to help justify the wts anti-beard stance.
i wonder if the wts will ever lift their beard ban in the u.s. and other places.. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/24/disney-lifts-beard-ban-workers?newsfeed=true.

During a rehearsal for the district convention a few years ago the DO told me I had to cut off my soul patch before the day of my talk. It was the craziest thing because we had been in one another's company at meals and mutual friend's house and he never said anything about it.
I know brothers that wear bow ties, which seem to be more attention-grabbing/seeking than a beard.
