Mynameislame - A few years ago there was a BOE letter (or maybe it was during one of the CO meetings w/BOE) regarding tattoos. If a publisher had a tattoo, elders were supposed to "encourage" the publisher to cover the tattoo while attending meetings or engaging in field service.

Some elders don't have a clue they're opening themselves up to be liable. Most of what they think about where the congregation is concerned is their next talk, field service, their particular cong assignment, how to avoid Sister Depressed, the next BOE meeting, and on and on.
But if I were an elder in Fremont cong or any other cong where this happens I'd realize real quick I could be stuck financially. When you start talking about lawsuits and legal issues people get nervous. They think "Call Legal" will solve all their problems.

The WTS will probably put the money up for Fremont cong, but you know the Fremont BOE knows what is happening. I don't know of many elders that were able to maintain confidentiality, so even if WTS tells them not to discuss, everyone in the congregation will be talking about it at the next meeting.

Hmmm, I wonder if Abrahamson and Clarke were the two elders assigned to "investigate" the case for the BOE?!? Usually two elders are assigned to determine if there is any merit in allegations going to a judicial committee. Perhaps those two elders did the investigation and consulted with the Service Desk. I don't know...just thinking about how stuff like that played out in congregations I was associated with.

Hutterites Shunned for education and high school sports
by puffthedragon ini have never heard of this group but i turned on the tv and right now (eastern time) there is a show on national geographic called american colony/hutterites and they are shunning members for allowing their children to have more education than they deem neccessary as well as playing school sports.
the group also appears to think they are the only ones going to heaven.. anyone know more about this or have experience with them?
struck a chord with me..

This show about the Hutterites and another show about an ex-Amish (Out of Order) have been dealing with shunning and the effects on former members.

I wonder what the Fremont congregation publishers and BOE will be thinking when they're on the hook for over a million dollars. I imagine some people are thinking about changing congregations if not religions!

Good question cofty. Most congregations don't have $910,000 sitting around in a checking account. I wonder if WTS HQ will cover the local congregation's portion. Not to mention the punitive damages will be announced tomorrow.
