The WBT is a cult. Why can't dubs see?
by KW13 inwe watch the news, we read newspapers and stuff and we hear about nutters who are up to weird stuff.
sometimes we read about/hear about cults.
the society is obviously one.

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

Not me, but my daughter has been banned from her Barbie unicorn. She took it home and her JW mom broke the horn off. Mom also threw away my girl's care bears. Also rebuked for watching Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe - "Bad Magic"

Scripturally Free to Remarry?
by limbogirl inhad a discussion with a friend of mine yesterday -- she's still semi in the borg.
anyway, she says she's free to remarry as defined by dub rules.
she's divorced, however, there was no cheating by either party in the marriage.

I cheated on my wife, but she stayed with me. We eventually got divorced, but since she took me back after the cheating, she said she wouldn't be scripturally free to remarry until I had sex with someone else. And, she needed me to sign some sort of statement to that effect for the elders. I told her it was the most asinine thing I'd ever heard, but just type up whatever she needed and I'd sign it. Thank god I'm away from that insanity.

Welcome to so many New ones...Question...

A couple years back I googled everything JW cuz my wife joined it. I actually joined the forum to get some advice to save my marriage. I learned the lingo and tried to understand the psychology of the group. Got divorced. Now I'm back for more education to counteract my daughter being taught this crap. From what I've seen, this is the premier site with the smartest posters on JW stuff.

The punishment is sufficient. When you're 16-17 years old you don't think about the possible consequences of a prank. They were criminally negligent and the punishment is community service. It doesn't have anything to do with football.
