many have lamented the years of service given to the watchtower and the activities that they performed in their various congregations.
many have paused to consider what record might be left of these services.. for me as i think of the 33 years of service, think of the happy years, ( yes, there were some happy years ) the scenes, the trials that we have all witnessed and experienced, it appears to be an age since they began, now lost and even forgotten by many.. the watchtower has fogotten the rigors and sacrifices over the years of those of us who have left for various reasons.
equally troubling to me is that our contributions ( including money $$$ )and actions for the watchtower that has been meticulously recorded ( not the money ) on our publishing record card now buried somewhere in the files.. what is not known and recorded on our publishing record cards is that our beliefs, our deeds and our passions have changed toward the watchtower.
they treat their members as mere numbers.
That is the real reason I left. What I actually told my friends is "They don't care for Christ's sheep. If I see them start caring, then we'll talk."
Now I have some different issues, like "what organization doesn't want the best, smartest people as members? That is really strangeto me." My JW friend answered me this week, "well they are a cult."
I didn't say a word. Bwah ha ha ha ha.
i have written about this in the past, but not in recent years.
i'll try to do this briefly.. from the age of 5 until he was 10, my oldest son was sexually abused by a 5-year-older, jw male cousin.
my son stopped the abuse on his own when he was 10 by holding a knife on his abuser and telling him that he would kill him if the abuser ever touched him again.
Victims are shit in the organization.

But I think one needs to be in a place where they feel the "fight" /struggle will be worth it. I made up my mind in an hour during a WT study. The worse is behind me and I don't ever want to go through that again. So many I know are still talking about the same things we talked about 5+ years ago, and they are no happier...just want an end to their dilemma, like Armageddon (lol). Then I bring up the potential loss of 6 billion lives so they don't have such angst, and I get the strange looks. *sigh*
if you lived in the l.a. harbor area in the early seventies, did you ever meet or know these two men or any of their relatives?.

i'd say an average of 50 posters are logged on jwd right now....and probably an additional 100 more that aren't members that are reading here right now.. what's your guess?.

jehovah is such a righteous, merciful, loving god -- slow to anger, overflowing with loving kindness and blessing.
yet it somehow bothers many of you that he will shortly execute his judgment on mankind and wipe out 99.9% of the world's population, as if that somehow is supposed to conflict with his loving qualities.
personally, i have no idea why many of you feel this way.

Thanks for the additional WT quotes Leolaia. Those who came in during the 40's & 50's (especially 50's I think) have an especially judgemental, non-thinking, illogical mentality on this. But there it is in print.
Here we are, 4 billion people more than when that WT was printed, and our "loving" God is still waiting for more bloodshed at his war, let alone the million that died in the mean time.

i was talking to a friend of mine about perfection last night.. he made a comment that there was no way to have perfection, unless you made one thing and set that as perfect.
everything after that would be a copy and otherwise would always in some way fall short of perfect, the original creation.
we were talking about art.. and then he made a comment that god did not create us perfectly.
How many of us were raised in such a way that we never fully pleased our parents or whomever... whatever we did was never good enuf. That, to me, is what "god" would be doing.... hanging the carrot but never giving it up.

Apparently her children and husband did not become JW's, otherwise the WT would have mentioned that for sure. I suspect that she was the only JW in her family.
Right. I remember somebody sponsored her to come here. I thought it was so very strange to choose to not be closer to her kids, at least. But then again...you know what cults do, they brainwash you into thinking that being with them is more important than being a natural mother to children.
