This is wierd. I just reread this story and sent the link to "I quit" yesterday. Then I see a FB friend (can't remember her name on here) posted the link on her FB wall this morning. Then I see it here.
Maybe Frankie will stop in and say "hi!"

I finally drove off my wonderful jw wife...and i am so sad..
by oompa ini helped her move out this weekend so i must be a masochist too...so on top of losing every friend in my life...i have now lost my wife...and yes i asked her to leave on more than one occasion this year...we have argued for nearly five years about wt crap...nothing i could ever say would make her question anything!!!!
it was beyond frustrating...then this spring when i somehow disassociated myself and even lost my parents i knew i would never have a normal marriage no matter what...all i wanted was a normal marriage with mutual friends...that is off the table as long as she is a jw...but why could i not accept it???
why could i not shut up???

(waves to I quit! What a wonderful surprise to meet up after all these years on JWN via Randy.)
I have an iPhone, about a year now. Used to have a Blackberry. My family is Iphone vs Droid. I resented the control with Apple at first...iTunes, etc. But I have had nothing great things to say about Apple and all the gadgets. Once you get used to the phone, it is sooo user friendly. I think the phones are very sturdy. However I did drop my iphone face down on cement and it shattered the glass to bits. BUT, Apple replaced it, and I was shocked.
I think you will be very happy with either. It was a difficult decision for my and I anguished for months before making the decision. But I am content with Apple, and love the the AppleTV...can use my remote to place my music through my TV sound system. It just rocks. Literally.

Kathie Byron, TheWork.com. Experiences?
by Hoffnung ini just attended a "reducing your stress" training, sponsored by my company, and training staff used the methods of "thework", founded by kathie byron.
in order to reduce your stress, you have to inquire yourself and put everyting you believe in, in doubt.
by the end of the 2 day work shop, i have all my "cult" warning lights on.

Hoffnung,
Honestly, I forget everything involved with "The Work." (sounds creepy doesn't it?) I just used the questions to break down issues in my head I couldn't get a handle on. The worksheet or whatever helped me look at things from a different perspective. And, I was pretty much alone trying to sort out leaving JW, not on a DB, so i really needed help to cope with the big changes that were happening. For me it was anger, sadness of the waste of years/time...much of what everybody goes through when they figure out the "truth about the truth."
I am terrible at being too involved or dedicated to anything...maybe a sort of ADD or something. I went to a 2 day workshop 5-6 years ago with my family that was pretty helpful also. But now when it comes to town I ask myself if I should go...and I think "Nahhh." I'd rather go to a museum. But it is so traumatic to leave everything and everybody you know...it's like jumping off a cliff. I was really alone then and had no clue what I was going to do. Anything that helps you "make it through the night, is alright...alright" in my opinion.
I think it is really wise to listen to your gut if something doesn't feel right. As a witness your are taught NOT to listen or lean on your "own understanding." In the end, it is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Yes I have. I used it to help me with the anger issues I was carrying after I left JW. It helped me tremendously change the "story" in my head by taking each issue/feeling and asking, "is it really true?" I am sort of "self-help lite", and try to just get the help I need to work through something and I move on. I get pretty bored with too much of any of the self help. And now, I get REALLY bored.
With that being said, I guess people are always looking for something for the answers to life, success...etc. I'm amazed when I think about those intelligent people that stayed in the sweat lodge of that nutcase in AZ, some dying. I can't for the life of me figure out why no alarm went off in their head that much power given to a person is crazy.
I haven't looked at Byron's stuff in years. But I know I was impressed with her original story.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

My mother was told to "suffer in silence" when my father was abusive in all ways...worse when he was drunk. What a number it on her and us.
Sort of speechless that example was used and as mentioned, the abuse dismissed over the kudos to the wife for hangin in until the husband became a JW.
Nice.
