Quest for fire
by designs inresearchers from several universities have been conducting studies on the earliest use of controlled fire by our human ancestors.
based in south africa at the wonderwerk cave they believe evidence shows that around 400,000 years ago either neanderthals, homo sapiens or homo erectus were able to cook foods which led to the advancement in brain and body shape, birth and population.
of course we remember the fred franz lessons on genesis and his theory and belief that humans, adam and eve, are 6000 years old and already at a few days old they saw swords and fire on full display for the 1st time..

NYC Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and the Women's Rights Movement
by designs in101 years ago as unions and safe working conditions gained more strength and public awareness a avoidable tragedy pushed government to create laws to protect workers where free market forces had failed.
on march 25th 1911 a fire broke out in a 9 story sewing factory trapping the women workers on the 8th floor.
a locked exit door, cramped burning stairways, an elevator that malfunctioned led to the deaths of 146 women, 50 of whom lept to their deaths and the youngest worker of 14. the two factory owners, who had fought unionization and 8 hour work days, escaped the fire and prosecution where the state failed to prove willful negligence.. 8 hour work days, livinging wages, safe working conditions, health care for workers ( private citizens raised money for the funerals of the 146 women) required the state and federal governments to pass over 30 laws to address worker's rights.

I saw one similar years ago, obviously not this one because this is only one year old. But this, and the special on US barons like Carniege, confirmed for me how conditions for the working poor are a 1000% better now than the turn of the century, as we were led to believe. The switch flipped for me on that and I developed no patience for any of the WTBS's myopic view on world history.
Oh, and "The Jungle", Upton Sinclair...I almost didn't survive that, the story of immigrant workers in the Chicago stockyards.
Unbelievably sad how life was for the poor workers before the changes you mentioned. Very brave those game changers...

What's Your Status? Are You Technically Still A JW?...
by minimus inare you disfellowshipped, disassociated, active, inactive???
?.

I left one day and never went back. Probably "inactive" for the reports, or I don't know what they do with the cards of people that they know have moved. They do know I am alive and have communication with a few in the hall.
I don't consider myself a JW technically or otherwise...in the least. What do lapsed Catholics say? "I was raised Catholic."

There was an interesting discussion in a Adam Corolla podcast this week regarding this. REALLY unfavorable to JW's, with personal experiences shared by the commentators. I guess Adam worked with one for a while...pretty funny. It is worth the listen even though listening to Adam is like listening to fingernails on a chaulkboard for me. This discussion reinforces the lack of thinking skills by JW's, and the ridiculousness of the mentality. He has one of the most popular podcasts, so that message is out there.

The worse one for me was when I was 16, the reg pioneer, married PO asked me to type the schedules for the information board, which I did. After a few months, he asked me to meet him at the hall, in the middle of the day during the week. I did, and he took me inside the empty hall, and started to tell me how much he appreciated the work blah blah blah. I started to feel very uncomfortable. He then gave me a gift in appreciation, (just noticed how bad that statement looks, but it wasn't "THAT" kind of gift, lol), which was a very nice vanity set, all gift wrapped up with a card. It was CREEEEPY, and I started to get the bad vibe, thanked him and got the heck out of there. I distanced myself from him after that. Years later, he was DF'd and FIRED FROM THE SCHOOL HE WAS TEACHING AT!!!! I knew he was a perv. Everybody else thought he was the second coming of the Messiah, and I could tell nobody anything different. Although I did hear just a couple years after my experience that in a JC meeting he asked the lurid details that people talk about on here...how long...where did he...then what did he do.... etc etc. I decided then and there if I was ever at a JC I would not be feeding their fantasies...I don't care what they did to me. He is now reinstated, and I saw him as my last DC working in the press are...back in their good graces. I've entertained from time to time whether to tell my COBE brother some of the things I went through, one with his closest elder friend. My JW gf thinks I should. I want to keep it behind me, not sure what good would come of it for my brother...
I think my expectations of JW's being any different than "the world" were dashed pretty young in life. I've done a few things I am not proud of and that affected my life for years, emotionally. People are people...many times looking for love in all the wrong places.

So What Would You Do If You Won $550,000,000?
by Mary inok, so the mega millions jackpot is at half a billion dollars.
if you won and decided to take it in a lump sum, you automatically lose 40%, then there's state and federal taxes, so you'd actually get a 'meazly' $240,000,000.. what would you do if you won that kind of money?
other than donate a chunk to the world-wide-wit-lessing-work..........
