then it's the FB friends who deserve the blame
You know what? I totally agree. But to date, AAWA has approved of the adds, calling them "members", and calling the action of adding, "over-enthusiastic" during the "blush" of the start up. We understand all that. But AAWA refused to make it right, in the very least to notify all the members, (to my knowledge), after the fact. Or just pull down the page, say what happened, and "Here's our new page!! Let's get back to work!"

Yes, slim, there was that. And I believe he also said that because of that there were a mix of people now in the group including some not so desirable. I don't have time to look up exactly what he said, Juan Viejo2.
So you are right, which is it. I felt Juan tried to be honest. Some other statements on the site are less so.

The issue as I see it, and has been discussed, is even though the group was secret, it was showing up in the feeds, visible to whomever depending on how our FB pages are set up.
Even though I shouldn't have to explain it, I choose what I want my friends to see, including, for one, my former bible study who has a pinky toe in. I care about what she sees. I want her to be curious and investigate discussions on the sites I joined.
Again, the respect among the exJW community, and the "like" groups I was in was fine up until AAWA. I wonder now if the people that added the names were now directed to do so.

Jgnat, I know, thank you, I appreciate it. However I will venture to speak for a greater portion of my FB friends, we found each other through friends and friends of friends, originating from JWN. We for the most part use the site socially, and naive to the workings of FB, most just try to keep up with security announcements. I did not know this type of adding could be done because never in a million years would I do that to my friends without their knowledge.
"Invite" is FB's term for add.

Jgnat, with all due respect, you use the word "invite" like we had a choice before being added. To be clear, the names were added to the group without notification or invitation.
i love my whole experience with the exJW community. It's been all good. But I am sour on the ethics of AAWA.

Simon, I was hoping the AAWA subject wouldn't be locked and buried for the following reason. Again, I received a second email from another exJW who is visible on FB. She noticed more activity popping up from familiar names, but didn't think about it much until a few days ago. She came to JWN to see what was going on and found out about the mass add of names to AAWA, and sure enough, she was one of them. She asked to be removed.
People come here to JWN to find info. Most of the times there are varying opinions, sometimes flat out wars. But at least you can usually find out what happened and based on the discussion, pro and con, make a personal informed decision.
I could be wrong, but it sounds like there may be upward of 1000 people on the AAWA site that may not even know they have been added if AAWA did not notify them. Funny to call them members when they didn't even join. Like saying you won the election by the votes you added to put you over the top.
I have good friends on AAWA, some I've known for 30+ years and love them all dearly. I say to them, "go crazy, knock em dead, good luck, take 'em out... "
But this adding members without notifying, then blaming them for being in a like group is disrespectful and intrusive. Claiming the number as members is dishonest.

i have recently converted a bible student and he had just started out as an unpublisher publisher.
however since knowing ttatt i have been looking for a subtle means to deconvert him without any problem coming out of it.. this man had grown to have a strong fondness for the organisation and he is also in the process of indoctrinating his other two children, as his bible study conductor, he put so much trust in me and believes everything i say.. i am sure i can succeed in exposing the watchtower?, but has anyone tried it ?, any suggestion will be appreciated.
I was successful in turning one who is now inactive.
Do you know his soft spots? Children, blood issue, world conditions? For example: Children, no higher education, no outside activities, child baptism encouraged and poor retention rate as a result due to kids not making their own informed decision. Reversals in blood..."are you willing to risk the life of your child if a safe blood transfusion could save them? (refer to Boston/Newtown). World conditions getting worse? Not really...

Actually, IMHO, every person here is a Rosa Parks, especially the ones that have stood up and faced their congregations, JC's, elders, friends and family. Every single one.
I think the division that may be perceived is more of a difference of opinion and a difference in approach. I think everyone wants the WTBS to lose its power and for their loved ones to get out and move forward and grow in their lives.
A great amount of the pages surrounding AAWA was concerning a breach of trust and unsatisfactory action, even to the point of vilifying the victims. I was told I "should have picked better friends." Huh? My friends are the exJW community, and never had a problem until AAWA.
I hope they do some good out there in Watchtower land.
