Pete Seeger, the great peace activist and folk singer, has passed
by designs inpete seeger wrote songs that became the heart and soul of the civil rights movement- where have all the flowers gone, if i had a hammer, turn turn turn, waist depp in the big muddy, we shall overcome.... we traveled to the newport folk festival, which pete helped establish, and got to sing with the great man himself.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y2siieqy34.

Does Anyone Feel the Ministerial School Helped Them?
by Band on the Run inas a born-in, i was eager to join the ministry school.
my cousins were also born-in but lived in different states.
there was keen competition to see who could do mature things, such as baptism (my mom said when i was 35) and ministry school.

I took my assignments seriously and always tried to figure out a practical application even when some of those topics were just plain ridiculous. I the the exercise was good overall to learn something new and step outside your own box.
However, with that being said, everything I learned in the TMS I could have learned by participating in school activities. In fact I could have learned much much more.
The last talk I gave in the TMS was when the school overseer said from the platform "I had a hard time finding anything wrong with your talk." I figured I was done. About a year before I left the org, I handed the talk assignment slip back to the overseer and told him "I graduated."

Born-in memories, etc this is my first post, guys ;-)
by ThunderStruck52 inso i have decided to jump in and for the first time and share some of my random memories that seem to have been floating around my mind more and more lately.
mostly if all the weird anxiety i experience from time to time is related to it.
i guess that would be a different topic to post!.

Welcome TS52 and thank you for sharing your story. Glad you made it out for yourself and now you can raise your kids to be free from the pressures we had growing up.
I went to Dodger and LB as well, still in the area. Nothing quite like those stifling, hot Sunday afternoons if you ended up in the 3rd base sections. :)
Look for ward to your posts.

Does anyone know the curent understanding on Chess for JWs?
by BU2B ini seem to remember chess was frowned upon by some jws.
is this like the oral/anal sex policy?
just ignore it and hope it goes away...

It's so abundantly clear these guys have nothing better to do for the world than take every single thing and run it through the JW filter. They can and do find something wrong with every single thing.
What a useless existence they have. So unproductive and unreasonable.

It's good. I happen to not do well with grains and legumes etc, even though I love them. I ate this way very strictly for about 3 months, then started adding back things to see what my system will tolerate. It's been educational.
It's a very healthy way to eat for most people, and may reduce inflammation, which is a big cause of a lot of what ails us. Good luck.

TTATT family blow out
by redvip2000 infor those of you who have a minute to read this, here is a report from my family trip.. i was in florida for the holidays visiting my older sister and family, along with my parents which were also visiting.. although i've had conversations with my mother about the organization, my sister and her family had no idea of my position in regards to the (un)truth - perhaps because we live far away from each other.
i knew the day was coming.... on my second day there, the whole family was sitting around bs-ing about different stuff, and as usual my mother starts with the "world is getting worse by the day" conversation, followed by approving nods and smart remarks from the rest of the family.
i then politely told them that this was not true, that in fact the world has never been better.

Well played red.
I've done some good old fashioned ribbing about 2014 to a few JW's. They don't find it very funny. We can only hope they stick their brains back in before too many more years go by. **sigh**
