by snare&racket ini am shocked that an expert would simply examine only the literature given to her by the organisation she was defending and simply accept it.
also the ease she has in making huge sweeping statements when comparing the jw's to all other international religious organisations simply undermines her professionalism.. i am also thoroughly shocked at her blatant, 'expert for hire', 'will defend anyone' apparent decision making, the organisation is responsible for covering up thousands of abuse victims by its own records, in australia alone!
never mind their judicial process being heartless and traumatic!.

What sir82 said. I don't have the proceedings on, but at the WT table it looks like 5-6 lawyers, and by our attorney bills, that could be 2-3k per day per lawyer. Then add the preparation work leading up to the commission, (2 years was it?), it's a huge bill. And they need to spend it. They need to spend this time and money to defend their indefensible policies, ESPECIALLY in abuse cases.
Think of all the spousal abuse that has gone on in the org, including my family. The battered wife is forced to sit in a room alone with a committee that would rather be anywhere else but there, with the batterer and tell her story. There is no care for victims in this org and finally the veil is pulled away.
These a$$hole elders would not review the information before the proceedings. Now their faces and words are forever exposed to the world.
What a gift! Thank you Australian Branch and elders!!!!

I think it would be fun to stand about 10 feet away from a JW trolley and hand out flyers with info about the abuse coverups, including the Royal Commission's investigation, with links to the videos.

The elder had to use the "silver sword" to swear in for his testimony.
They look like the nutjobs they are.
Like was said somewhere, I think some of the elders will see what the whole world sees, and finally understand just "following orders" doesn't stand up anymore, there is a right thing to do...especially in regards to these abuse cases. The automatic response to protect the perp and his family at the cost of a victim is hideous.
