i think she was just angling to include me and maybe find some lever to get me involved again.

What if it was a 21 year old sibling who has been stabbed but is otherwise is in excellent health?
Forget arguing about technicalities of the law. Just as a thought experiment imagine you are in a situation where you have the final say. Your sibling is a devout JW. They are unconscious. They will definitely die without blood and definitely live with it. It is your decision alone.
What is your call?

I probably would let them have the blood and deal with the consequences.

And cofty, real life is full of "special conditions" that should be considered in making life altering decisions.

Have we become what we despise so much?

the majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.

upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.

again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

The thing about this place, JWN, is you can choose to grow (a pair) and learn from the discussions, or not.

This board was full of salty characters when I started lurking...and the discussions were intimidating and brimming with passion for the issues discussed. But OMG, they were real, and and you could not look away. They helped immensely to open my mind to things I had not even thought about coming from a cult.

And the empathy and compassion is still 100% here because we've all been there...leaving, dealing with family, separation, frustration...

Good luck if you think discussion about butterflies and unicorns is what will help. Trust me, there have been a dozen "nice" boards in the last 15 or so years, with really nice, kind people. It doesn't seem to last...maybe because it's not as vibrant and interesting. And believe me, they suffer disruption and melt downs like any board...it's the nature of the internet.

But I don't think you are really concerned with the welfare of the ex and soon to be exJW community...amiright!!

I agree, if you were young enough to have years of life ahead of you. And after a discussion with the person they still picked me as the decision maker, I believe in what Simon said, it would be a round about way of getting the blood without it being their decision.

In the case of my elderly parent, since deceased at 98, it would be devastating and traumatic for her. As sweet and logical as she was in some things, there was that "judgement" mentality that crippled her thinking on others. **sigh**

I would discuss this issue before hand with the person so that we all knew where we stand. And it would allow them to choose a different person if needed.

So it depends.

In the case of an elderly parent/relative, I would respect their wises. It would be devastating and disturbing to them to put them through this...needlessly. Yes it is the WT's fault that forces this, but I'm not going to add to it in this case and cause the great distress that it would. They have a right to choose.

If this stays up, I think maybe the WT could be behind this channel covertly. If it gets traction with numerous subscribers, it could be the meeting of the future and they can just count the subscribers as attendees to all the meetings.

the 2016 january tv.jw.org broadcasting has a clear message: jw.org needs more money!.

the 2 months of donation increase is not enough: the thousands of projects are not a 2 month project.. so: thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you (heh heh heh) and send us more!

personal conclusion: if i had any doubts that the society is sincere, this openly money grabbing has made my perception complete.

Chaos at Brooklyn Bethel 12/2016

this was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.

"everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".

"also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.

But then again, they chose to hang their star on this cult and not be aware of the signs. So those hanging tight be it there or in the congregations...they want the dream of billions dying so they can have a pet tiger. Good luck with that!

Jephthah's atrocity

in judges chapter 11 we read that jephthah committed an atrocity by offering his daughter in sacrifice.

however, the watchtower, study edition of april 2016, reads:pages 6 and 7:not only was jephthah a mighty warrior but he was a student of gods dealings with his people.

jephthahs thorough grasp of israels history gave him a clear picture of what was right and what was wrong in jehovahs eyes.

I remember this as a drama at a DC when I was about 10. What a weird thing to glorify I thought. But typical WT fashion to pick this as a point of discussion.

New movie "Spotlight" coming out - child abuse cover-ups

i just saw a commercial for a new movie coming out.

spotlight - about a newspaper exposing the cover-ups of the catholic church about child sexual abuse.

Okay I just watched this movie last night. Just wow.

After what we have all witnessed with the Royal Commission, this movie hits home more than ever. You see again how children's lives are expendable, and people don't matter...only the organization...just like WBTS.

I remember talking with Barbara Anderson years ago about the other cases we never will know about. She said the same thing that was said in the movie...people will settle for a few thousand dollars just to offset medical bills or any bills really in exchange for secrecy. So their other friends, congregation members never know what is going on as they continue life as usual right along side a predator.

I highly recommend this movie.

just got my annual advertisement from illinois international travel (apparently run by jws).

for $1,199 i can take a tour from september 17-25. why are they printing so much bible literature if the witnesses are supposed to be using tablets?.

saturday: first stop at new yorks newark airport, then transferred to a marriott hotel.
