Hey Aude! A few months back there was a thread here about the announcement of jw.org and Roku. The WT was offering 20% discount on a Roku purchase through their link.
Times are a-changing!
so i *finally* upgraded my old, heavy, tube tv to a new flatscreen, smart tv.
the install was much easier than i expected and i was very happy with my progress.
then i get to the set-up part of the installation.
i've seen it mentioned by a few on the forum that at some point there was a realization that had they not been born a jw, they never would've converted no matter how many times the jws tried to study with them.
this was my experience too, and i'm wondering how universal it is for those that were born-in but eventually left.
i think i started having this thought (more specifically that if i were not born a jw, i would surely have become an atheist by now) in my late teens.
100% NEVER. NEVER!
I used to pray and thank jah I was a born in because I never would have been one on my own for years. Nothing seemed right about them. BUT...my family was all in, I had a decent social life...was busy in the theo routine...so I went along with everything for all those years. 1995 generation change was the last nail.
has anyone seen this?
when did that happen?.

I think it's a brilliant move. Those that are tech savvy can easily keep their time up or increase even to make up the true shortage we know that is actually happening. You can be sure they will pad their numbers with tracking where they can.
It does exclude those that aren't as savvy or not in a position to acquire techy items. But that is of no concern to the corporation...people never were and never will be a concern to them.
as a pre-awakened ms, i heard of 2 stories that i found very shocking at the time.
please keep in mind, i was following wt blindly at the time and was part of what i thought was the true religion.
the first shocking story was when i attended a large meeting for elders and ministerial servants covering our circuit.
A dominatrix, high priced call girl pimped by her husband in Europe.
Pedo ring which is rumored to include murder.
Can't make this stuff up.
today has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.
Oh my gosh...needlessly tragic, just tragic.
I am so sorry for your loss, and the child's loss...
Needless... May she rest in peace.
johnny the bethelite on this program talks about the older bethelites being targeted by watchtower.they are getting rid of those at bethel who are 65-87 years old, some being anointed even the widows of former governing body members who gave decades of loyal service time to the watchtower organization.. the reasons the very elderly are being expelled are money in that for their age range they cost so much to cloth, fed, and medicate, having problems from high blood pressure to dementia.
they include persons such as sister henschel whose husband had been a watchtower president and marian sydlik whose parents are long dead.. https://soundcloud.com/rick-fearon/jan-16-2016-johnny-the-bethelite-watchtower-insider-host-his-radio-program-from-brooklyn-ny .
I listened for about 3 minutes to the link. Nothing JTB has ever said and continues to say is new. Everything he says has been widely discussed here and everywhere for years. It is not news in any way that Bethel would be giving "redundant" or unproductive ones the boot. It's been a sad fact for years now, and worse now of course. With modern tech advances, why would they keep staff they did not need?
The very first time I heard JTB speak he didn't use correct/familiar JW terms, didn't know the stipend paid to Bethelites.
He's prob some DF'd guy who found SixScreens online, and perceived he could instigate a ruse and gain some attention in his boring life.
This does not make light of the sad fact of how the WT care so little for the older ones who spent their whole life in obedience to the corporation, and have to leave with nothing. It's disgraceful. Horrible.

Another one dammit. Thank you for the music. RIP Mr. Frey.
The Eagles were Linda Ronstadt's band back in the day, and you could catch a set from them at the Golden Bear or The Troubadour. She put a good band together, and blessed them when they asked if they could leave and form their own band.
besides almost getting mugged a couple of times.
his folks had a fit and told him he had to go back and "do his time".........and do the "right thing"...........he told me he had just left max larson’s office, max had just told him “what a disappointment he was, to his family and to the organization!
“do you ever think about james olson?
Thank you for the story.
I wonder how many have killed themselves at Bethel?
