Interesting thread.
From a corporate standpoint, they are having an efficiency review to see what they can cut, and spin to keep the flock believing they are special so they will stick around. They have always adjusted pioneer hours down as the need arose. They have reduced meetings but still count the segments as full meetings so the counts remain the same.
It's not a kinder gentler organization. They are just making changes so they can remain relevant. I had dinner with cantleave last night and we were remarking about the very low publisher counts in the congregations we know. It will be interesting how they will spin the low numbers to still look like growth.
We used to talk, when I was in, about how the "society" has to change. But it is like a huge ship turning...it is slow and takes time. These former friends may be thinking that the ship is finally now turning. Interesting times.
