so many emotional triggers and not much substance in 2019. at least they highlighted a part of a talk from knorr in the 1958 vid, nothing but a lovefest in the 2019 clip.

Interesting video. I was two when my mother took a train from California alone with me to NYC. You just showed up and they found you a place to stay for 8 days or whatever. I can't even imagine, but that's what they did back then.

I have mixed feelings about the video, probably unpopular here. It sort of seemed like paradise, a movement for a peaceful new order. It was easy to get caught up in it, you thought they had the answer to everything. Turns out they were winging it all along...they know nothing.

When something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Words to live by.

As A Former JW Are You Patriotic At All?

jehovah’s witnesses were drilled with the idea that all governments are from satan and that we should have nothing to do with anything involving support of the government, voting, or political talk for one party or another.. now that you are out, is patriotism important to you?

is voting important to you?

are you supportive of your country?.

Yes I am. I think this is am amazing country. We are still the wild wild west, it's all over the place. But what the founding fathers tried to do in creating this government and Constitution is amazing to me.

Even when I was a JW I was sappy over USA. It's just in me. I am not thrilled about a lot going on right now, and I may retire in a different country, but over all I love my state and country.

if we haven’t associated with the congregation in years, could it be said we are not jws?

or must you be disfellowshipped or disassociated to officially say you really aren’t a witness?.

^^This. I figured the secretary would move the cards to another drawer during a CO visit. The reason is if they were queried as to if they attempted to "save" me, reactivate me by calling on me, they would have either lie to say they did, or tell them they have had no contact.

Mind you, I was happy to not have their visits. I figured out later it might have been because my brother is a well known elder to them, and they might figure "leave her to him to sort out."

Heartbroken that my parents are so blind...

so i sent a letter outlining the scriptures that support shunning versus the 3 times as many that support not shunning.

this is the below response that i received.

i will be announced tomorrow night and wanted them to know since that is the fair and adult thing to do.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Even as we understand we would probably do the same as Sol pointed out, now being enlightened about TTATT, it would be unthinkable.

I watched Cedar's recap of the Saturday session of the RC, and the message is loud and strong for them to shun. The speaker called it an act of love. It's infuriating.

Positive thought to you and yours as you navigate through these times.

Smuggling

the international assemblies are on... and the missionaries are coming home... and leaving richer.. i have, in all seriousness, been told by a co that the missionaries going home have large sums of money hidden in their luggage as they go back to their assignments.

he related how one couple was almost caught with the undeclared cash as they passed through customs.. this has been going on for quite some time, the watchtower using missionaries are mules.. i bet with all the kingdumb hall sales the pace has picked up..

traveb - thank you. That was my understanding also. Another person told me after so many years they destroy the inactive cards, and that was news to me.

Repercussions over Whiskygate?

anyone any idea if there have been any repercussions over whiskygate and if anthony morris was ushered into the backroom after a meeting?

i am pretty sure if this had been a member of the r&f and the video was all over the internet, something would have been said about being careful not to bring jah's organization into disrepute.

i am sure the local elders in the congregation he is assigned to wouldn't have the balls to do it and there would have to be a mole pretty high up to find out if the gb got involved.. we can but speculate i guess..

I think the story is more embarrassing than scandalous.

However with this guy or any other gb, if the shoe was on the other foot, and he ran into a R & F with a cart loaded like that, there would be a comment if this was the best use of his disposable income. After all, they need Sofia's allowance and ice cream money.

Question. I haven't been to a meeting in 18 years this month. What happened to my publisher card?

I am not DF'd or DA'd. I just saw my old BOE last week at a memorial. Only went because the daughter of the deceased, who has been out for decades, asked that I go and of course I went to support her. Navigating a JW function when you are out and have unwelcomed DF's relatives is dodgy business.

The elders were nice. They seemed shocked to see me. Curious about the card...is it destroyed and am I off the official books?

there are attendants singing and dancing in grass fields.

later, you see sisters holding up this silly sign that makes me laugh.

It's funny, the song in the video says "Jehovah provides for us all." But it's really the people that paid to go on that organized tour and the R & F that provides all those goodies.

I get the huge video screen needed for a large arena, but holy cow does that ever look creepy with Lett is it? Yikes...so so creepy.
