Heidi Hall: Life after WTS Good read
by blondie inhttps://religionnews.com/2019/09/26/finding-a-faith-that-is-stronger-than-death-or-my-familys-rejection/.
in my search, i left behind conditional, behavior-based love and traded it for the unconditional grace shown by a true family, whose bonds have nothing to do with dna.. and i’m dying grateful for that.. (heidi hall, who died sept. 25, 2019, at age 49, was a veteran journalist whose award-winning career took her from the standard democrat in sikeston, missouri, and the southeast missourian to the tampa tribune and the nashville tennessean before landing her at vanderbilt university’s public affairs office.
the views expressed in this commentary do not necessarily reflect those of religion news service.

WTS Carts Have Competition
by blondie inhttps://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethinker/2019/09/in-virginia-american-atheists-upstage-jehovahs-witnesses/.
according to american atheists, their organisation had received multiple complaints that the jws were proselytising outside various government facilities.. said aa’s virginia state director larry mendoza:.
we would rather that government property be free of religious speech altogether.

This is great!
I am so sick of their faux "life saving work" AKA as "easy hours."
I've been around too many of em lately and I'm just sick of em...the phony "love" and phony "spirituality."

Jehovah's Witnesses Came to My Neighborhood
by Juan Viejo2 infor nearly two years i have not seen any jehovah's witnesses going door to door in my neighborhood.
that was not the case when my wife and i first moved here (north central oregon).
in fact, our neighborhood was visited at least once every 4 to 5 months - even in the coldest winter months.

Another "sittin' around doin nuttin' but countin' time" story...
I posted a few years ago that I saw a canopy and a table with literature on the side of the road in Baja. We passed them coming and going into town, 6+ times a day. There were 4 people sitting at the table, chatting away. Not once over the 3 days did we see them talking to anybody other than themselves.
Pretty easy ticket to paradise I guess.

This cart thing is brilliant.
It's easy, no effort field service. They can continue to believe they are relevant in some "life saving work" with minimal personal investment, and the org can keep their numbers up.

Welcome!
Take time now to focus on yourself. Join some meetups or clubs for things you enjoy...hiking/walking, dancing, art, photography, volunteering...
Take the time to do some things you never had time to explore before.
Just by doing this, the path will become clear to you. Things will sort as you follow your heart.
Remember, life is to be lived by your choices...no one else's. You will only find happiness in living life on your terms. The road will be difficult, and sad, and infuriating at times. When that happens, just remind yourself that it is YOUR life, and the strength will come.
Peace and good wishes for your journey.

What’s The Worst Thing You Have Heard About A JW?
by minimus inthere was a guy that became an elder and he was a father of 8 children including 4 or 5 girls.
he was a little bit on the self righteous side and would counsel people a lot, especially families about how they could be better witnesses.
one day his wife dropped a bombshell!!!

A "sister" was pimped by husband, to do really really nasty type of prostitution. She got caught tethering her child to the crib while she was out doing her thing.
Murder/incest multi generational family.
The 90's were really weird.

The urgent, lifesaving work of Jehovah's witnesses......hardly!!
by RayoFlight2014 insince june 2016 i have kept a journal of my encounters with jehovah's witnesses at my door or in my street.
i'm a a nosey bastard and a bit of a home body when i'm not at work so i don't miss much of who comes past my home or knocks at the door.. will and dill.. they came to my door on a wednesday morning around 10:30am mid june 2016, i was on afternoon shift and had been reading bart ehrman "misquoting jesus".. what follows is the conversation as best i could recount after they left;.
of the two young gentlemen, dillon, the younger in appearance introduced will and himself, he then proceeded to present me with a brochure about world conditions supposedly getting worse.. me: i could stand at the door nodding in agreement if you like?

In this case it was years of struggling with depression. Seems by the video shown he was very active and happy in the ministry. But the struggle was more than he could bear, and it hit everybody very hard. It's been a very sad time.
But I'm thinking maybe since they just had their regional they were on a particular high, some just returned from internationals. Seriously gung ho though...but I think it's for being in the social club, not any great witness they participate in.

I've had a confusing few weeks, set off by the suicide of a brother, former friend/elder. It was tragic beyond words. Even though I've been out 18 years, we were good friends for all the years I was in, and always kind the few times I saw him after.
I attended the memorial. What is AH-mazing to me is most everybody there was absolutely GUNG HO! Most regular pioneering, applications for Paterson/Walkill you name it. Trips to international, one brother told me he is moving to Europe and he is in till the bitter end.
So I had to think about this...yes they are active in the cart work etc., but there is no emphasis on any life saving work. No, it is loyalty to the organization, being faithful, and it is a HUGE social gathering.
It's so different. Ugh.

Big fan here.
I was melancholy for a year after he passed.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
