I can’t help but think it’s really exciting right now, this “new light.” But as the months and years go by how can one not think “what was the point of all those hours over all those decades?”
we always said here either it stays with more control with small numbers or it becomes more mainstream to retain what it has.

The corporation only makes decisions to benefit themselves.
Any idiot can see the the ridiculousness of the cart service where thousands stand around talking to themselves for hours is no life saving “ministry”.
They have to try to stop the hemorrhaging somehow. And with copious lawsuits pending, try to keep the money they have and contributions.
Counting time made the insecure feel good about themselves while alienating those in more complicated circumstances.

So, 60 Years Ago
by titch inso, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.
(i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.
so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?

I see a Westminster and Costa Mesa mentioned. I was a teen in Cypress. Looks like we’re about the same age. Maybe our paths crossed at any of the ice skating rings every Sunday night or local gatherings.

The reality is he doesn't see anything wrong with either of those facts. He hasn't apologised because he isn't sorry. He'd do it again, albeit under a huge cloak of secrecy this time round.
^^This.
From the very beginning we witnessed how self unaware he was. He was a victim of everybody, you name it, his family, his upbringing, his marriage, the WT, JWD.com...and eventually the biggest baddest of them all...Kim Silvio.
The truth is he is/was too weak to actually go out and live the life he wanted. He is/was too lazy to go his own way and earn a living without the grift and his friends/marriage. Just a man baby.
The thing is most of us have done what he was too weak and lazy to do, and don't have any of the problems LE does.

I remember Razor. What an asshat. I recall one disagreement was concerning whether to leave back issues of the magazines at doors where no one answered.
OMGosh that's a name from the past. I agree, he was terrible. I remember I was in service with him and he actually kept on loudly talking at the door after the householder had closed it. I was mortified.
Paluso was nice, colorful. Ended up as an elder in Santa Monica,CA. Of course have no idea where he is now as I've been out 23 years.

Retirement savings
by TxNVSue2023 inwhat's the current jw stance on retirement savings?
i know it changed.
pre1975 it was an attitude of "don't worry about retirement, this system is ending soon".

On life choices I’d say it’s prob best to do the opposite of what the WT says.🤣🤣
Balaam, what a tragic story of her own choosing. Glad you made your own way and have the lovely 3rdgen.
I sort of felt all along this paradise thing wasn’t going to happen. But, I didn’t buckle down till later to save for retirement. It’s was dumb but I have a fair amount as I did the max for a number of years that I can breathe. Honestly, there are so many at my work that don’t take advantage of the 401K, without the cult excuse. 🤷♀️

Imagine the oneupmanship of deftly being able to manipulate these volumes quicker than his anal fellow worshiper. What a waste.
OMG what a waste is right. But...it's a "publishing company."
Off the subject but I just cringe when I think about all the bound volumes I ordered to complete my library and how I had to toss them in recycle. Ugh.

I was there! I was 8. Do you mean those clip on chairs than attached to the bench? It was weird the stuff you could order through the literature counter at the hall.
I remember it was an international convention and there were a lot of people wearing full native costumes and getting their pics taken on the field. I remember thinking those poor ladies in the kimonos because it was soooo hot. The stadium was so packed I remember sitting outside on folding chairs.
Also remember the constant reminder that the oleander bushes were poisonous! I was scared to death of them and still to this day!
Ahhh the “Babylon” book. I had to memorize a three scripture sermon to offer that book door to door. At eight years old.
