Yes, Spinks is the only one who has any authority to offer an opinion as a rep of the branch so he can be more relaxed and definitive in his answers. The others do not dare. You can tell by their performance they know what happens when you do or say something the branch does not agree with.

by maksutov init seems like there has not been as much discussion here about the rc testimony on day 6 (4th august) as there has been about previous days.
i was quite surprised by rodney spinks' testimony, which was a marked contrast to the bungling and inarticulate testimony of the elders that appeared before him.
spinks seemed reasonably co-operative, and a lot more willing to concede points than anyone else has been.

When the WTS saw Catholic Church abuse being exposed
by Simon inthere was a time when the abuse issues in the catholic church were first starting to be exposed.. now, they were fully aware that they had the exact same issues that they too were covering up.. what did they choose to do?.
they could have "learnt" and said "man, that looks bad and we know we have the same problem - but at least we can learn something and put processes in place to make sure we clean up our act".. they could have done nothing themselves but refrained from criticized the catholic church knowing that they had the same skeletons in their own closet.. what did they actually do?.
they wen't full guns criticizing the catholics for something they knew they were completely guilty of as well, painting themselves as 'the good guys where this sort of thing would never happen' but the only processes they put in place were to tighten up how cover-ups were managed and to make sure the local elders knew how to silence any incidents.

They are so arrogant. Like the GB that refused to respond to a subpoena. They will understand the power of the civil law.
I believe they will impale themselves on the two witness rule. They have always used scriptures out of context which anybody with a brain can see. Same with the blood issue. They will box themselves into a corner holding on to these rules.
It's exciting to watch!

In cases like ^^^, I would actually graciously accept. I had an elderly mom and I would never want to make her worry more than she already was about my everlasting life. So this kind elder is just trying to do his best for "Jah."
I haven't seen the brochure yet. I wonder if anyone would try to give me one. I was called an apostate this week by a former friend. lol.

by snare&racket ini am shocked that an expert would simply examine only the literature given to her by the organisation she was defending and simply accept it.
also the ease she has in making huge sweeping statements when comparing the jw's to all other international religious organisations simply undermines her professionalism.. i am also thoroughly shocked at her blatant, 'expert for hire', 'will defend anyone' apparent decision making, the organisation is responsible for covering up thousands of abuse victims by its own records, in australia alone!
never mind their judicial process being heartless and traumatic!.

What sir82 said. I don't have the proceedings on, but at the WT table it looks like 5-6 lawyers, and by our attorney bills, that could be 2-3k per day per lawyer. Then add the preparation work leading up to the commission, (2 years was it?), it's a huge bill. And they need to spend it. They need to spend this time and money to defend their indefensible policies, ESPECIALLY in abuse cases.
Think of all the spousal abuse that has gone on in the org, including my family. The battered wife is forced to sit in a room alone with a committee that would rather be anywhere else but there, with the batterer and tell her story. There is no care for victims in this org and finally the veil is pulled away.
These a$$hole elders would not review the information before the proceedings. Now their faces and words are forever exposed to the world.
What a gift! Thank you Australian Branch and elders!!!!
