In the past, Jesus' disciples were also given an assignment that tested their faith. To remind
them that occasion, Jesus asked: "When we sent you without purse, no provisions bag and without
sandals, did lacked something "they said," No! "(Luke 22:35.) Surely Jehovah
will act the same way today with those who put Kingdom interests first
in life. At the same time, we trust that Jehovah will continue to provide the necessary for his work, as well
as he has done so far.Erm..."Jehober" didn't "act." People who worked and had resources to give acted. I always have to remind JW's about that.

My Opinions on whats going on in WT land - Insider Information
by thedepressedsoul infirst off, i'd like to state that i currently have "privileges" in the congregation and volunteer at bethel on and off throughout the year.
that's as much information as i will currently give about myself.. starting off, i think something big is coming in the form of lawsuits and bad pr.
they seem to be batting down the hatches in preparation for something the last few years and even more so the last few months.

How will many JW's react ?
by Phizzy ini did not believe i would see the demise of the wt in my lifetime, and maybe i will not, they may be able to ride out their present problems.. but how do you think this will affect the average, loyal, believing jw ?.
usually most things just wash over them, if there is a slight niggle, they use their well-worn way of explaining things to themselves as in "the end is near" or "jehovah knows best" etc etc.
but the huge sea-change in corporate policy that we see unfolding, all construction work stopped, except warwick and maybe their biggest project, chelmsford u.k. huge bethel layoffs, and the lifestyle of the remaining staff reduced to virtual slavery, more bethel closures, spiritual food reduced for the public as well as the r&f, and all of this being the opposite of what they have claimed was evidence of jehovah's blessing ???.

I think the zealots and elderly will blindly go along with the explanations of the WT.
There is a group of young adults, I hear, that treat the org like a church. They create lives outside the org for themselves and their kids. So they may not give too much attention to the issues.
There is for sure a large group with cognitive dissonance, that are in deep in with family and theocratic responsibilities, that are going through the motions but deep down inside they now it's all BS. They have to save face and keep up the game.
These new changes with the focus on the preaching work is an attempt to rally the troops. Ugh, I can't stand this manipulative cult.

Agreed.
I know a lot of the assholes who ran the RBC and the assembly hall build in my area. These were almost uniformly low-level grunts who maybe took a CAD or project management class or two and worked at the very lowest levels of construction/engineering firms. Yet they acted like they were gods among men when around their fellow believers.
I "still" have a friend who is a state building inspector. RBC called him in to review the assembly hall project. He told them what to do and they brushed him off and did it their way. It was disrespectful and a waste of time for him. And of course, he can't get over it. **sigh**
I've always thought the RBC, quick builds and the like was a nice idea in theory, but worried in the long run how it would pan out.
Since the "end" hasn't come, the WBTS is scrambling to make changes they should have made years ago. They can put lipstick on the pig, but it's still a pig.

I think this is key.
They may be worrying more about what will happen in the next couple of years than how bad things are right now.
And it sounds like the construction is costing way more than anticipated. I have heard at a local level the flubs by the RBC and costly errors and pride. Rework that cost tens of thousands to correct due to poor decision making. Jah isn't doing a very good job at directing "his organization."

World Wide Construction comes to a Shuddering Halt - Jehovah's Blessing has Evidently been Suspended!
by Slidin Fast inthe chelmsford project in the uk has already come to a halt and every one has been sent home.
the bethel family in london is to be cut by several hundred.
my impression is that most ambitious youngster in the org dream of being involved with the building program.

With WBTS, it's only and always about the money. The changes in the excess of printing should have happened 20 if not 30 years ago..what a waste of time and money while thousands of magazines and books languished in closets and basements. Consolidated meeting materials makes perfect sense. I thought they should lose the WAT and AW for FS and just print a quarterly brochure and effectively cover their territory using those.
Revamping the meetings, (although not really), was a savvy attempt to keep the attendance numbers up to "all 5 meetings." Fewer qualified elders to oversee the school is a situation in my area. Using MS's to conduct 2nd school, very little participation...the TMS just isn't what it used to be...again in my area. It needed a huge change and it makes sense what they did, I think.
The biggest outlay of cash is the monthly support of the full time workers, Bethel/missionaries/DO's etc. It only makes sense to revamp and reduce that expense. Now they don't rely on flexible donations but debit the congregations for a set amount, that was smart. Selling their prime real estate at the top of the market, creating their own bunkers makes sense to me.
The court settlements and losses, and the cost of litigation, those are things they out of their control and they must budget for it. It already looks like they are moving money around to show how "poor" they are. Believe me, they have expert advisers in regards to their finances. They are a corporation, and a corporation only makes decisions to keep itself in existence.
I could be very very wrong, but I think the WBTS coffers are full. The RBC was a brilliant money making scam. But, they have to change they way they were doing business. The stipends that went out for thousands of full time workers are now going to at least some victims of abuse. That's a pleasant thought.
It's also a pleasant thought that their master revamp building program is on hold. That is very interesting. It's all very interesting.

I'm sorry to hear that Min. I'm glad you were able to continue to have a good relationship with your mom. That is precious. Peace and comfort to you and yours during this difficult time. -

Just 10 more days. How are they going to spin the news on Oct 3 annual meeting?
by John Aquila inso they asked all the kingdom halls for all the money in their savings account and then make them give a monthly payment for the rest of their life.
the reason for this was because the in-gathering is so great, that they need to build, build, build!.
now the massive building will stop..

Why did you choose Jehovahs Witnesses?
by vinman ini'm wondering why ones on this forum initially became jw's.
if you were born in, why did you make it "your own"?
if you became one later, what was your draw and driving force?

I used to pray for years I was so thankful I was born in because I would never have believed it if I wasn't.
Edited to add: Sorry, forgot to answer the part about making it my own. I think because you life is just so immersed with the activities, you don't even consider there are any other options. All the meetings, service, conventions, activities...it's the greater part of your life...everything else is secondary. So I guess it was more "this is my life." I had niggles all along about things that didn't make sense to me, even as a teen a million years ago. Also, knew a lot of nice people. We spent a year as a need greater when I was 15, and knowing some of the finest, kindest people made a lasting impression.
It took me too long to leave though.
