one of the elders that went over my questions for baptism with me, was there.

Help finding a scripture
by jookbeard inbeen trying to find a scripture i think o/t that is used to counter react the wts twisting of their adherence to abstaining from blood and all things strangled etc, the scripture speaks about if you obey a law of god that could threaten your life that you should rather save your own life rather than adhere to the law, anyone know where i'm coming from?

Being a Jehovah's Witness Can Make You Fat
by WTWizard inas there has been some talk lately of a crackdown on obesity (in the form of the great boasting session), it might be time for a thread about how being one of jehovah's witlesses can lend one to becoming fat.. first, my personal situation.
when i was in college, i gained the 4x15 pounds that were supposed to be gained in college, and it was only my sophomore semester.
it was legitimately my fault.

Well, I have beeen to get-togethers (They have a lot) where there is soooo much horrible, fattening food, and then they all sit around and talk and eat some more, and then comes 50 or more desserts (Everyone brings something). It would make anyone feel bloated! I know they think they are walking it off, but they walk at such a slow pace. Unless, that's only in Florida. Imagine in Missouri, where that state has the honor of being the state with the most obese people in the U.S.

you know they counted their time typing out the free ad, too!.

I'm confused....I thought Witness were not permitted to use the computer unless it was for work or to communicate with one another and the Society. They preach all the time that most websites are from Satan!!!!???

It is they'e own doctrine and they think only thye will be saved. That was one of my big complaints, just before I left.
It is you're heart condition that matters and only God can judge or Jesus. Not man.

"Special" Talk Outline for this Sunday?
by Mrs. Witness inlast night hubby told me that his brother (an elder) told him how "provocative" the outline for this sunday's special talk is.
apparently it's something like "who is qualified to rule mankind" and goes on about how government is not qualified.
he then asked me if i'd like to attend (ha ha).

I know they always have the "special talk" after the memorial. Is it my imagination, or is the talk a kind of Spring "try to get the attention of as many as possible to come into the fold" thing? Also the talk is usually about the same thing the talk was about last year, and the year before ,and the year before...
So Bethel is for sale, eh? I think they are just consolidating it all in Upstate NY, no?

by Witness 007 inlast year i turned up to make everyone happy.......but this year i just could'nt force myself to go.
some witnesses called on the day to "encourage" us to go....my mum called to make sure i go.....but i just couldn't put my tie on!
after being on this site for awhile i feel like i have moved on.

No, I don't "miss" them at all. It was always the exact same text and quite frankly, I found it very stressful....Although many years ago, I used to feel in a trancendental state....Like I was on LSD. I don't think it was good. I find it a yearly event to cart out the "annointed" for they're once a year event and then lock them back up. They are not on the governing body, just people that "claim" that they are going to heaven to rule with Christ, you know one or more of the 144,000. I was told by the witnesses for over 40 years that each year the amount would get lower and lower, with them getting old and passing away. Then they changed that, to say more younger ones were being "Enlightened"???????Whatever
