Have You Ever Experienced Depression?

my mom does and has every ailment under the sun.. i know more people that are under meds for depression than not.. fortunately, i do not suffer from depression but i wonder how many do or have, especially if you were a witness..

I think I have been depressed, but I dont know.

Much of my life has been pretty good, but the world around me has been pretty shitty.

I have taken anti depressants several times. I would research them on google and ask my doctor

and he would give them to me.

The worlds still pretty shitty and I'm still doing pretty good and the pills dont change that.

I could say I'm clinically deptressed or say I'm as happy as a lark, it all depends how i want to answer

the questions.

I would rather stay in bed than get up and go to work, but if I stay in bed and dont work, I know where that

will lead.

For me depression is a thinking disorder the above site has a lot of good information on what to think about.

Depression is a thinking disorder like being overweight is a eating disorder.

Some people cant or wont take the responsibility of controlling what they think about or what they eat.

I think today is a good time to be alive but I do remember

in the early 60's gas in Cleveland Ohiio was 32 cents a gallon.

My grandfather would give me 5 dollars to cut and trim his lawn it took me about 45 minutes,

and a hamburger at McDonalds was 15cents. I remember in the late 60's I was making 10$

an hour putting on roofs for my father and I'm pretty sure hambugers were no more than 20cents.

You used to get a meal at McDonalds for a dollar. And gas was still 32 cents a gallon.

In the 70's I had full coverage hospital care for my wife and son for 100$ a month.

Today I cant afford health insurance any more, insurance would probably be 1000$ a month for 3 people

and it wouldnt be full coverage.

Im 58 the best time in my life was the 70's, I made good money, gas, food and insurance was cheap,

you could buy a new volkswagon for $2000. I was making 20,000 a year out of school. I could get 2 grocery

carts of food one full of steak and meat for 100$.

Many women didnt work in the 70's I made enough to take care of my wife and son and my wife got to be at

home and raise my son.

Things are relative, when things were cheap I never had enough and when things are expensive I never have enough.

YOu cant always get what you want but but sometimes you get what you need.

I'm Starting To Understand Atheist and Evolution

for many years i was sincerely perplexed when someone told me they believed in the evolution theory or were an atheist.

i never understood how someone could ignore all the evidence for intelligent design and overlook all the holes in the evolution theory.

for example, the human biology clock is synced with the rotation of the earth, the earth is the perfect distance away from the sun to sustain life, the earth has an ozone layer to protect us from the sun's radiation, the earth naturally produces fruits and vegetables to be used for food, our bodies produce enzymes to break down the fruits and vegetables so it can nourish us, the earth produces water and oxygen, etc.

pew forum on the religion and public life.. get this, on average, americans got 16 of 32 right.. number one group, yes, the atheists and agnostics got.

an average of (20.9), jews (20.5), mormons(20.3), protestants(16).

I got the first question wrong also.

I was thinking in Spanish Sabado domingo Saturday would be the sabbath.

I might be smarter than the average atheist, but I'm like everybody else.

I dont know whats going on here. Unlike many others, I know I dont know whats going on.

That makes me an agnostic.

Radiometric age dating has put the earth at 4.5 billion years, plenty of time for something to happen

Radiometric and carbon dating is very inaccurate and very unscientific.

Read some basic Richard Dawkins, he will so much as tell you that, I doubt he realizes that though.

The earth may be old, the earth may be young but datting rocks is quasi science, it does not follow the scientific

method.

The only evidence we have as to the age of the earth is recorded history, beyond that we havent a clue.

Being born and raised as a JW I was forced to believe in unprovable information, I'm not jumping out of the

frying pan into the fire and joining the cult of the quasi scientific old age earthers.

You guys are just as certain of what you dont know today as you were when you were dubs.

Some things never change.

Real science gives us computers, medical therapys, atomic energy. The scientific method is provable.

Quasi science gives us arguments that are never resolved in ones life time.

Its good to have theories and wonder and explore. It would be good to be able to distingish reality from false information from some group

with a vested interest blowing smoke up your rear end.

Quasi scientist who date rocks and say the earth is billions of years old are only a small portion of the overall scientific community.

But it seems they are missleading many with unscientific information.

They are not challenged because there is no market or financial reward in proving the earth is 10 billions of years old vs one million

or 10,ooo years old.

There is a financial reward in finding fossil fuels. Finding fossil fuels is one thing, thats the reward. It doesnt matter how old the finder

thinks the stones the fossil fuels are in. Its the ability that finds the fuel that is rewarded not the age of the stones.

i became a christain at the age of 9. not by going to a church or asking a preacher to baptize me, or anything like that.

i started reading my mother's king james bible cover to cover at the age of 8. my father was very abusive and when he was abusing me, i would close my eyes and pray.

i never hated my father, which is one good thing i got out of prayer.. when i turned 13 i became a lay preacher and traveled, on my own, preaching in any church that would let me.. when i was 15 i studied with the jws and was baptized after four months of study.. i was a zealous christain but not a zealous jw, according to them.

If God exists and ordered a Purge how would you react?

the reason why god killed everyone in the days of noah was because of the demons who came to earth.

according to the story their direct presence and impact on us had a poisening effect.

we became corrupted and god felt the need for a total purge.. that's what the witnesses say is happening today.

We cant really know the real God, we know the demigod Jehovah who was an astronaut from Nibiru.

Satin was the benevolent demigod and looking out for his geneticly enginered Adam and Eve and their decendants

Noah and family.

The Body of Gods was upset with many of Satins experiments centaurs, satyrs, etc and they were basically

done with men as slaves, that when they knew of an earthly cataclysm in the middle east they decided

to let mankind perish.

But Satin wanted to preserve his creation hence Noah and the ark.

seriously, has anyone here asked for something specific in prayer and actually gotten what they asked for?

what convinces you that you wouldn't have got it in any case?

Some things I prayed for and recieved,

when I was in school I prayed to wrestle and I did and I won every match but one. The newspaper wrote about me every week.

I prayed every week to make the team, then when I made the team each week, I won each week except one week.

The same thing with the track team, I prayed to make the team every week and I did and i won many ribbons and medals

and had my name in the paper often.

When I saw my wife for the first time, it was love at first sight. And i prayed to God that I could marry her.

And I did. And we have been happily married for 39 years.

When I first became concious, I remember praying for a good life. And looking back over the past 59 years I have had a good life.

When I was a JW, I prayed to God to show me the truth and he showed me that the JW's were not the truth.

I have prayed to God for health and prosperity and I have been blessed with only a Jehovahs witness education.

Your attitude determines your altitude and an attitude of graditude will give you a high altitude.

I have had a lot of prayers answered but I cant prove that I wouldnt have achieved or gotten those results

regardless of prayer.

I have also had important prayers not answered and that was very devastating.

How did I explain these things?

For the longest time, as a result of reading the bible cover to cover 7 times, I believed in predestination.

I also believed all things work out for those who love God.

I learned to pray from being raised as a Jw and then leaving the JW's and reading the bible. The bible said to pray incestantly, and as

long as I can remember, I have.

From a certain perspective I can see where that appears insane.

But looking at it from a different angle, I can see where it kept me sane.

Thats the life I lived.

Thats the way I was taught to live, by the voices that I listened to.

It could have been better and it could have been worse.

Prayer can be giving thanks and prayer can be asking for help.

If you are thankful for what you have you open the door to recieve more.

God is good orderly direction at the very least and if you look to him for good orderly direction,

you will recieve good orderly direction more often than not.

Thats how I have come to see it.

Thats the way this life has wired me.

God helps those who help themselves.

Pray to God but tie up your camel.
