CO's, - the most idolized man on the planet. The stars were aligned when he came, all showed up, all were in awe to have him in their house, make dinner for him, touch his clothes. It made up for not celebrating birthdays of loved ones, father's day, and mother's day. I mean, we shouldn't put any "man" up on a pedestal....well, any man except for the CO, that is. Isn't that just idolatry at it's finest? I remember they announced his visit and everyone would schedule off work and Mom and Dad would pull me out of school so I could spend just one day with him! No wonder jw's have their priorities f@#*ed up about education!

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

My dad thought Madonna was the devil incarnate but he would let me listen to all this drug-induced hippie music. I guess since it was the "oldies" it was so much more appropriate for a jw.

One elder commented about a poster he found in my closet while doing some repairs. It was the Beatles Revolver album and had a few naked pics of John Lennon on it. Hmmm good thing he didn't dig around in the shoe box and find my reefer.
