  The US will not grant them statehood and they will not let them go.

  Puerto Rico has voted to not change it's status in referendums. In the last one, 46% chose statehood, 2.5% chose independence. More than 50% chose none of the above.

  There have been various bills in recent years in Congress with respect to a change in Puerto Rico's status. It is all at the link.

  The fact is, they favor their current status best, as shown by electoral results.

  Well, we could pull out of Europe, for starters. Using the information in the graphic posted above, nearly a quarter of our overseas personnel are stationed there. This would save us a lot of money. Let them fend for themselves.

  If this is not an empire then what is it?

  Other than the possible exceptions of Iraq and Afghanistan, where are these troops present without the consent of the hosting nation's government?

  Europe?

  Japan?

  Saudi Arabia?

  Australia?

  Colombia?

  The Empire monicker does not hold, unless as a semantic stretch.

  The fact is, the US has been the guarantor of the international order since the Second World War.

  It has been a peaceful 60 years, historically. It is arguably the most peaceful half century in human history.

  If the US enforcement of an international order collapses, you (Europe) will feel the pain before we do. You have become feeble and vulnerable under our aegis.

  To use your "imperial" language, when Rome collapsed, it was the periphery that suffered the invading hordes first.

  An empire is a state with politico-military dominion of populations who are culturally and ethnically distinct from the imperial (ruling) ethnic group and its culture [ 3 ] — unlike a federation, an extensive state voluntarily composed of autonomous states and peoples.

  The United States is not an empire.

  Is there a Logical explanation for the spooky things happening at my daughter, Ali's house?!?!!!!

  ok.... looking for some logical explainations.... my daughter, ali, who i've been posting about on the forum...who has developed congestive heart failure.... has had some spooky experiences lately in her house.

  here are a few of the things that happened:.

  about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.

  Define temporary. Implicit in your view is a firmly believed hypothesization of an ultimate scientific/naturalistic explanation for all things, and that it is accessible to human cognition. This you cannot prove, and so you are going on based on something akin to religious faith. This is not science, this is scientism.
