i owned a massage school, taught massage for over 20 years, practiced massage for nearly 30 years.
massage/bodywork -- some folks who do bodywork don't like the word massage but i don't care.
bodywork sounds like car repair to me.
While you put a finer point on it than Randi, I still think he would be give your post a
What's it like being a "heretic" in your chosen field? Have you always been able to see past the woo?
I couldn't help thinking of one of my favorite Tim Minchin quotes while reading your words:
Do you know what they call "alternative medicine"
That's been proved to work?

hi, new member here, but i've lurked for a while.. for obvious reasons, i won't give too many details about myself, but i thought i'd share my story of what might in the end have been the easiest fade in recorded history.
it's going to be a wall of text, and i'm writing it mostly for myself to get it out of my system, but it is, of course, a pretty open forum, so any comments and most questions are welcome.. here goes:.
what made me realize ttatt was legalism.

would you fear that there might be "consequences"??

1. my husband's time is finite, it's wasted on spouses arguing over money, sex or family mattters with stupid home visits.. .
i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.
my family worked extra hours instead of begging the strong members for district assembly money, cat food for seven cats or tiny little rag-a-muffins weiner dogs.. .
Welcome aboard AuntConnie.
Your posts have been alternately heart-breaking, hilarious, off-putting and confusing.
If I ever need counseling I think I'll send jgnat a PM.
Generally I'm not a fan of anything "Christian" but then I read a post by jgnat and wish that someday I could be half the Christian that she is.

Lots of other great posts here as well, please don't take the lack of kudos personally.

i was browsing through some of the boe letters (made available here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/243938/1/all-letters-to-elders-from-the-branch-1981-2012-boe) and came across the 3/15/96 letter about persons with communicable diseases.
it specifically mentions aids several times in the letter and seems to be primarily targeted at that population.
among other gems:.
The last DC dunking I was involved in was around 2003-2004. The "No Dunkees with AIDS in the main pool" ban was still in effect.
Don't know about the book study part though.

A year's subscription to JW.org.
Our family has agreed to not go all out at Xmas. We do think the "forced giving" thing is one thing the JWs got fairly right. Of course, forbidding to give on Xmas is also screwed up. If we're going to spend big bucks on someone, we save that for the individual's birthday.
