I Had Lunch With Michelle Obama Today

her speech was ok, but she says "um" a lot.
our table was very close, which translates into we paid $500.00, instead of $200.00, per plate for our cold chicken salad.

Where To Go For 10th Wedding Anniversary?
by sweet pea inbesty and i will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in september of this year.
we would like to do a week or weekend somewhere special and as we currently reside in la, we are considering hawaii, mexico or a city like san francisco.
we will probably be taking the podlets along with us so they are a consideration too.

Since you will need to attend the meetings at the KH while on vacation (make sure you take your meeting clothes and your bookbag) pick a place where you can easily get to the local hall. Also, wouldn't it warm your heart to spend a day in field service getting to know the local brothers and sisters????

Do JWs miss having large parties, pot-lucks, etc?
by navytownroger inas has been stated before, large congregational get-togethers, cook-outs, baseball games, etc are now greatly discouraged by the society.
back in the 80s in san diego we had parties, night-time beach bonfires, pool parties and frequent restaurant meals with 10+ people.
do current jws seem to miss these sorts of social activities??

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's, we had constant congregation picnics, which usually included softball games, volleyball, and some of the best food I can ever remember eating. There was a family in our congregation that were on site caretakers for a old yacht club property that had a large building where the food was setup and large fields for whatever games everyone wanted to play.
I am of the opinion that the change in policy (not allowing these type of gatherings) has had a negative impact on the RF. There is no joy to be found in this organization anymore and these events were a great way for witnesses to have some fun and "let their hair down". I think the mass exodus of youth leaving the Borg is further proof of this. Obviously, these activities cut down on field sales time (field circus) and the suits in Crooklyn wanted to make sure the sales force weren't being distracted by having some fun........

abit about me... i was born into the jw's and have been baptised for about 15yrs and was appointed as an ms about a year ago.
i have been a die hard jw for the last few years, but because of the arrogant and unloving attitude of certain 'spirit appointed' men within the cong and circuit i began to wounder if what i had really was 'the truth' and caused me to do some digging on some of the fundamental teachings.

Hate is such a strong word, I would like to think that we have a slight disagreement when it comes to choices of god worshiping locations........
Nevertheless, it would be cool to hear from someone on the "inside" thinking about coming to the "outside", (or the dark side)

Obviously, they monitor this site......both knowingly (the official what are the apostates up to assignee) and unknowingly (bethelites that are lurking just waiting for their chance to cut and run).
