why are the jah jireh homes such a nice little earner at a time when retirement homes are struggling so badly in the uk?.

Yes, that is almost certainly true, I know a couplel of brothers who who worked on the construction project, and their labour was given voluntarily.

The last time we discussed this some who commented on the employees said that they were unhappy as they were pressured into overtime and unhappy with other conditions.

I 've heard that as well, Gill. I don't personally know anyone who worked there, but have spoken to JWs who have relatives who did. Most of the reports from JW staff was that it was a rather negative experience working there.

If the Watchtower or another publication paints Jehovah as "some kind of wrathful, demanding deity ..." (whether in word or in illustration) it is these concepts that Jehovah's people work at debunking. I, for one, certainly don't see Jehovah as wrathful and demanding when I look at things correctly, from a spiritual (God-directed) view

I don't see God that way either.

However, the Watchtower has repeatedly informed it's members that only they will survive Armageddon, and then only if they keep meeting Gods' requirements, as outlined by the Society, who purport to speak for him. This includes the wholesale slaughter of six billion or so human beings.

To me. that is not the act of a God of love and justice, more a God of veangeance.

Not aJW, but have a question

i hope it's alright that i post a question, even though i've never had any affiliation with jw organization.

i have a friend who has been trying to convince me for years to study with jw.

i've been doing alot of research on jw and was just wondering if people here would be kind enough to tell me why they have decided to quit their affiliation with jw organization.

I disassociated around 6 months ago after a lifetime in the organisation. After researching the doctrines independently of Watchtower pubications, I realised that most of what they teach has little or no Scriptural basis. I was also upset by the obvious lies and cover up of incidents of child abuse by the organisation.

My advice to you is do not get involved with the JWs in any way. Don't study with them, and don't attend any meetings. They are very good at indoctrinating people without the person even realising it until they are hooked. Don't let that happen to you.

found a "Henry Jehovah" and a Paulette Jehovah". I wonder in which country that got its start. I also wonder what would happen if a person with that as a family name became a JW.

The congregation they belonged to would be able to say that Jehovah was truly in their midst. It would make the Watchtower study and other q&a items interesting as well, if the Jehovahs wanted to answer.

That's a useful list, Clam, it seems they both claimed and denied being prophets in the same year:

Yes: "The facts substantiate that the remnant of Christ’s anointed disciples have been doing that prophesying to all the nations for a witness in favor of God’s kingdom." (Holy Spirit - The Force Behind the Coming New Order, 1976, p 148)
No: "They do not claim infalibility or perfection. Neither are they inspired prophets." (WT 5/15/76 p297)

It's something none of us picked up on at the time. If we had, such a flip flop would have offerred insight into the man-made nature of the religion.

Try Deuteronomy 18: 20 - 22

20 “‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?” 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’

Yes Terry, and this will prove to be yet another example of it. It will be good for the tourist business for a few years, as I doubt it will be debunked quickly, and when it is there will be far less hullabaloo about the disproving than there was at the "discovery".
