Yes, it would be a CYA talk from the WTS.
Not in Illinois that I know of. It would depend on each state's laws.
in my part of the world, there are supposedly congregations throughout the "cities" that have had talks about going directly to the police if we hear of any illegal activities, rather than going to the elders.
any active witnesses hear the same talk?
pm me for the state.

So, in the past, any growth of the WTS was proof that this was God's Visible Organization.
Now, if the growth stops, this is proof that this is God's Visible Organization, but the
end is right around the corner. (We've maxed out)
This will only work for a few years, then there will have to be new spin. They will have to
say that Jehovah is sparing this old system a little longer because he doesn't want to lose
even one sheep, the sifting of the wolves continues, let's find that one sheep.
Something like that.
I fell for this crap?

my feelings toward the watchtower society were mixed.
on the one hand, i was grateful that there were opport-.
What is that nonsense quote that they use with Hitler?
At least the trains ran on time under his government.
Well, as for the Watchtower Bible $ Tract Society,
At least we watched less television.
Beyond that, all good was destroyed by the overwhelming bad.
a friend of mine said an elder in his congregation who attended gave a part on the service meeting lastnight about the upcoming campaign and one of the things he said was during one of the gb talks at the annual meeting i think he said it was morris stated that "the governing body is certain that jehovah's day is getting near" anyone go to that meeting or also heard this?
can they verify?
his reasoning for his part was no wonder the year text is zepheniah 1:14 and we are presenting this tract "false religion's end is at hand" .
***"the governing body is CERTAIN that Jehovah's day is getting near"***
I wonder if I can apply the "day-for-a-year rule."
If God said at Gen. 6:3 that man's "days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years"
then later, the "day-for-a-year rule" was put into place by God, for the WTS to discover later,
then there could be a hundre and twenty years left from 1914. If the end doesn't come in
2034, quite a while from now, then I will apply the "day-for-a-year rule" to the 120 years
(using the 360 days-in-a-year thingy that WTS uses)
120 x 360 = 43200 days, then a day-for-a-year means 43080 years past 2034.
Basically, what I say is that I can come up with anything I like, but examples like
this above are bad because that gives thousands of years to this system. When the time
comes (after 2034), I will use a different method to show that the end is right around the corner.

So basically,
Bro Samuel Herd’s talk will allow the JW's to say "If you have sustenance and covering,
you don't need higher education, you can devote more time and money to WTS."
Brother Lett spoke on a subject that will allow JW's to say "Stop looking at anything
apostate, read all the WT material, and NEVER question it."
Bro Guy Pierce's talk will be spun to say– “Do more for the WTS to prove you believ that you are
in 'the truth.' Anything that produces doubts in our doctrine is from Satan, he fights dirty, so just
accept whatever we say."
I fell for this crap?
just wanted to introduce myself to every one here i am ania's sister and have been visiting her for a few days.
she has found some inner peace and solace in identifying with others.
i must say it has opened my eye's somewhat!.
Hi BAAKO, and welcome to the forum.
I look forward to hearing more from you
What more can I add? WELCOME.
hi guys,.
this is a fairly long story, so bear with me.... twelve years ago i dated a jw man briefly in new york.
we got along really well, but he stopped calling.
Your update on your brother is very rough.
I wish you love and support. Focus on the true help you receive and
not on those that are not supportive. You need positivity now.

"the governing body is CERTAIN that Jehovah's day is getting near"
NEAR- as in "close in proximity and time, imminent." That's what they want us to believe.
Later, when pressed as to why it did not happen yet, NEAR will mean "closer than it was before,
relative from Jehovah's viewpoint. Isn't 130 years a small percentage of Jehovah's DAY?"
One of my favorite lines to work into any comment is "the end is right around the corner."
That's because my JW mother will say that until she dies. (She's retired now).
Another one I say is "I fell for this crap."
i've been a member of this forum for a while now.
i need some advice.
i can't say too much about myself because i'm still an active witness, though not by choice.. my marriage is in trouble and the one thing that causes it is being a member of jehovah's witnesses.. i was born and raised in the truth like so many others here.
Yes, I have similar problems:
In her mind, I am the one at fault.
Does anyone here in this situation have this experience?
I tell my spouse about what's happening in the org, and she never blames the org. for screwing up my mind or other lives.
My wife never says, "what they've done is wrong/bad/terrible", it's, "I don't want to hear this"
She has yet to say "you're ruining our marriage." But give it time.
My wife makes excuses for the bad way the CO handled my "doubts" and she excuses the entire WTS for anything
I bring up. If I give her a fact from the Bible, she says there must be other places in the Bible where the WTS example
is correct, but then she won't discuss it further (She won't find the answer and won't allow me to discuss my findings)
It's not just Truthseeker. So we can all support each other. I know I have to lay off questioning the WTS for now, but
I do inform my wife why I do the things that I do like stop going out in service, or why I would not comment on THAT WT article.

If you love her, fight for her, but don't give up on your conscience.
That seems to be the general consensus here. Advice many of us husbands of active JW's (wives, too) can follow.
