How do you get a video shot from over the householder's right shoulder? It's either from the wall of the house just next to the door or from inside the door.
Well, how do you get such a video shot?Yup, you stage it.
This is not an actual door-to-door JW visit. This is a commercial.

Lett briefly addresses the child abuse issues in new JW.org video
by Richard_I ini just read about this on the ex-jw subreddit.
link to the video (10m06s).. skip to 7:35 where he says: "another way we can contribute to the oneness - rejecting false stories that are designed to separate us from jehovah's organization.
as an example, think about the apostate-driven lies and 'dishonesties' that jehovah's organization is permissive toward pedophiles.

An individual JW should be able to view the news reports and weigh the evidence or propaganda for himself.
Truth is not afraid of the lies. A lover of truth holds the lies up to the light and examines them. -

The teachings of Jehovah'so Witnesses are not the truth, so what is the ultimate truth? There is an answer- there either is some supernatural entity or there is not one (or several). Everything either started from nothing or some other way. We either have an afterlife or we don't. Each answer would lead to more questions but they have actual answers. The problem is that the most basic questions answers cannot be proven absolutely. Regardless of how sure I am of answers, someone else is sure of a different answer. I do know that we should live as if this life is all we have. Treat it as special. If there is more than this life, we don't know what it is or if there are rules to live by to get there. -

First law of thermodynamics vs God vs Big Bang
by EndofMysteries infirst law of thermodynamics, that energy cannot be created or destroyed but changed from one form to another.
how does that fit in with god and the big bang to you?
does it make one make more sense then the other to you?

So God is real and we are just part of some computer program? He can't visit us because WE are not real?
Then why bother worshipping him? We aren't real anyway. Defy your programming and do what you want.

I quit the Theocratic Ministry School
by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

Evolution has clearly shown us there is no need for a god to take simple life to complex life and 'fill the earth' with life. Studies of the origin of life are still lacking as it seems difficult to make nonliving matter cross over. But science will figure that out one day, perhaps millenniumso from now when it can be observed on a lifeless world about to have lightning strike it's primordial soup (or volcanic action or whatever ).
As far as the big bang, some of the people in science are strutting like a peacock in saying they got it all figured out. That's a shame because they don't. But I am satisfied that their various theories are causing much more investigation than stopping at "God did it" ever will. They have shown that a god isn't the needed ingredient.
keep in mind that there really is no such thing as eternity to the past of the universe. Time was meaningless until it was started by the big bang. So our limited minds are thinking of what we perceive and we come up short. I find it easier to understand matter-energy and antimatter-energy coming into existense by scientific explanations than I do by the "God did it" answer that leads us to a dead end.
But since the mind is limited and finds this so difficult, I usually don't argue the very first cause. Instead, I accept the proofs that the gods of mankind's understanding do not exist and I say that if any supernatural power can influence our lives (or afterlives) then he/she/it is free to reveal such to us in a clear way. Until then, we need to keep looking for answers that are on a path we can actually continue down.

Are we pro-shunning or against it?
by Simon injust to continue my theme about religious freedom and how we approach criticizing the wts, i've also been thinking about 'shunning'.. i think shunning is the most unifying complaint that most ex-members of religious groups that practice it have in common.
it is the layer that runs under every other complaint - whatever the reason for leaving it seems "... and i was shunned" can be added to it as the final rap on the charge sheet.. of course it seems like a no-brainer to many of us and we hardly ever stop to really think about it - shunning is bad, the watchtower believes in shunning therefore the watchtower is bad.
they need to stop it.

I truly believe in personal freedoms. If a person chooses to shun someone for their own reasons, I would not say that it is outright wrong. I might feel that way, but I wouldn't decide for someone else. And I think the problem with JW shunning is that "someone else" makes that decision. Watchtower makes blanket rules that apply to your teen who research Jehovah's Witnesses but was baptized as a preteen and the rules apply equally as well to a former member that raped your daughter.
As for me, if my own family member was an unrepentant murderer, I might still visit him in prison and make sure he gets the proper legal counsel and mental healthcare he needs. That doesn't mean I approve of what he did or thinks.
Is shunning 100% wrong? For me it is. It is 100% wrong for an organization to insist upon it.
