It was the weekend for Irish parades just before St. Patrick's Day. Maybe he went to one before or after.

Send In The Clowns
by OneFingerSalute inas i sat through another mind numbing sermon this morning i could not help thinking that the speaker was a total clown.. lime green suit, white shirt, yellow tie, blue socks barely higher than his ankle, brown shoes, and an orange cast.
all that was missing was a big red rubber nose!
and of course everyone remarked what a wonderful talk he gave.

Reasons for Leaving
by maksutov ini finally got my book finished.
it is available as a free ebook here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/527252 i'm sure the contents are familiar territory to most people here, but hopefully it will be of some use to those who are either thinking about joining or thinking about leaving.

Shorter meetings for field service
by hoser inmarch kingdom ministry insert is about how the field service meetings will be shortened from 10 to 15 minutes down to 5 to 7 minutes.
they want the publishers to report more hours.
in my experience the problem isn't the length of the meeting for service but pioneers and publishers dogging it after the service arrangement.

They used to have 2 meetings in one evening- the Theocratic Ministry School and the Service meeting. They shortened those to squeeze the "book study" in there. It doesn't need to be long because they are just standing next to a cart or handing people a simple tract. The meeting for service should be shorter too.
I am sure that some long-time pioneers said they wished this meeting was shorter so they could get back out there next to their cart without "losing" too much time. It's all about time. TIME TIME TIME!
They probably said that some frigging elder thinks he is a hotshot because he graces them with his presence at the meeting for field recruiting and he thinks he is "teaching" them something by making some point or demonstration. They just want to keep their time rolling and get it the hell over with for the day. "Just let the pedophile pair up with the pre-teen and get us pioneers back to our gossip about the sisters while standing or sitting next to the cart." (Well, probably not those exact words.)

Man. That must have been tough. If it helps with your decision to discard the cards, they only wrote them after some jerkwad elder (or higher up) decided it was okay to contact you. They would have left you alone if not for that. It is part of their spiritual warfare. People must have really liked you to pull this on you. -

ABCNews Nightline: Segment on JW absuse cases here......
by WingCommander inhere is the segment on the conti abuse case in california and jehovah's witness's response as reported on by the abcnews nightline broadcast which was shown early this morning.
it really displays some absolutely shocking behavior from not only her abuser and his (supportive) wife, but also the jw attorneys and elders via video.
i am just blown away by the audacity displayed by these monsters.. we can now understand why governing body member stephen lett slipped in his comments a couple of weeks ago about "untrue reports of child abuse" in one of his talks which can viewed on the cult's website.

Great posted videos. Thanks WC.
I was going to ignore Perry's comment which is a version of "No true Scotsman..." (Google it.) But I feel it is necessary to comment. Please get off your pulpit where you try to separate JW'S from your ideal Christianity. Just as it is highly inappropriate to use this case to blast all God-belief, it is equally wrong to say how true Christians are better than this. This report is negativity about Jehovah's Witnesses and their policies. Secondarily, it is positivity about Candace Conti and the victims who have their say or their late reward and/or justice. Let's keep our debates and pushing of our beliefs (and non-beliefs) where they belong.

I am not a fan of the forced camera interviews where people have to tell interviewers to go away. In virtually all circumstances, I would tell them to go away also. But Rick messed up in saying anything. What he did say was seemingly contradictory to what was presented in court. There was no allowing for him to deny Candace's accusations and they didn't want him appearing to be cross-examined. Watchtower lawyers did not take a defense that included denying allegations.
What Rick's wife said was revealing also. She damn well knows Rick was guilty, having said he paid for the crime she knows he committed.
The Watchtower lawyers trying to deny that Candace was "assigned" to work with Rick is such nonsense and it appears that the jury was not fooled by the defense. The fact is that a dangerous known predator was allowed to choose Candace and the congregation, were it not under strict orders, could easily have prevented that.
I know I cannot get my JW wife to even consider watching the video, but should I be isolated with Jehovah's Witnesses, it will probably come up in my conversation.

jw.org cart days numbered?
by jookbeard inreading a report of an elder in a friends cong has been hiding and spying on the pioneers who seem to have a practise of dumping the cart and finding a local coffee shop, i've noticed that they do this in my local high street as well but this week they seemed to be all huddled around the cart, they've clearly been warned, a vast percentage of the time i see they seem to be more interested in fiddling with their mobile phones and gossiping, is just seems these carts are a means for the pioneers to turn in "easy time" i wonder what sort of figures show how much literature is being taken by the public?
i bet its very minimal.
naturally the gb would say they are a phenomenal success , we clearly know they are not.

If Watchtower was profiting from literature, they would be concerned about the carts. I think it's the opposite. Carts keep JW'S out in "service" with minimal placements. Profits come from the members' pockets so keep giving them easy service time. Money from mags, books is down so don't pressure anyone to place them. It's bizarre when members see easy time counting as a good thing instead of a waste of time. -

Feeling indifferent
by campaign of hate inright now, at this point in my life, i feel like i should be angry, sad, upset, annoyed, whatever emotion that most of you guys here feel or have felt.. but the overwhelming feeling i get, and i have got since waking up, is indifference.. i think that this might be my subconscious coping mechanism.
when i go to the meetings or take part in any other wt related activity, i don't care.
i just really couldn't care less.. i mean, i do care, but i think it's more a fascination now about the whole thing.

Right now, you are still "in" the cult, active to some degree. It is highly possible that your coping mechanism is a type of numbness to it all. That and a dose of curiosity about it all is fully understandable.
Plus, different people will react differently to their situations. We should not be surprised that one is bitter and another is indifferent. Heck, some put on a great attitude of joy that they are out.
If you think there might be a depression in there, pay attention to your own thoughts and see which way it develops. I think that every single person who was in, is in, left, did not leave, etc. would benefit from professional counseling. Most won't go, largely due to the cost factors. So, just keep an eye open to yourself if you think you are okay, but not so sure.
