I have reached that cynical point in my politics. I generally agree with George Carlin that the real powers allow us to believe we have a choice in the process when we don't.
It seems that all the choice they give the people in the USA is whether the chief spokesperson for the country is moderately conservative or liberal. Otherwise, I don't think it makes much of a difference who is sitting in the oval office.
B. Obama has two terms and people are still locked up at Guantanamo Bay. There's still unrest in the region of earth that has more to do with oil than anything else.
Hillary is the moderately liberal voice that will face the cameras. Powerful people and corporations won't have a problem with that.

Questions for those that believe in Electricity
by OnTheWayOut inyou can't see electricity or hear it or feel it.
well, there are sparks and lightning bolts and heating elements and the light and heat of filaments.
and somehow, it lights up neon in a tube.

done4 (and others), if I am reading this right, I could just look around at the world we live in and recognize that despite the Bible not mentioning electricity, it is there. I could see that predictions can be tested and results could demonstrate that the theory is sound. I know many say that my problem is not understanding what the scientific definition of "theory" really means.
And if I further read this the way you all are saying, I could apply this to other things, like evolution.
Are some of you suggesting that just because I don't understand all the science, it doesn't mean that it isn't true?

Have you ever heard the smoke theory of electricity?
Smoke does all the traveling inside components and it does all the work. If we see smoke leaking out of an electric component, it ceases to work. Happens all the time. Contain the smoke and the component typically continues to work.

So sorry to read that you might lose contact with some family members. But congratulations on being kicked out of an organization you really don't want to be associated with. And you now have more freedom to teach your young daughter properly. Power to you. -

Just like Satan could have put many fossils in the ground to make us doubt God, he could have planted ideas into our minds to give alternate explanations for God's power in action. We all know that science has pushed forward some radical ideas about nuclear fusion allowing the sun to continue on for millions of years. And we all know that is total bunk, but that God created the sun not that long ago and it's fuel is from Holy Spirit.
I think it is possible that man has tapped into the residual power from creation that is left in the land to use energy in a way that seems to be electricity. Sure, lightning is real, but it doesn't power up anything except maybe a DeLorean with a flux capacitor that travels through time. When we plug a vacuum cleaner into the wall, we are tapping into God's power.
You all probably think I am just ignorant of reality, but it's really the other way around. You all are stubbornly avoiding admitting that all things come from God and that we have no need to go beyond what is written.
Maybe next, we can discuss the nonsense that is modern medicine. All we need are leeches and bathing in the Jordan River.

You might think you and yours said nothing wrong and I might agree. You might not have violated any "Bible principles." But........
Of course the kids mentioned the broadcast and we said we heard it. My husband said, " you are responsible for you, they won't pay your bills. How can you discredit college and it's beneifts when you haven't gone nor work for a living?"
I think we did actually say, the horror stories of college are what you will find in any group of kids 18-22 ... ha ha... And that the GB have no real life concerns that we all face. So mainly, it's because we are negative to the GB. My husband definitely won't apologize when it's nothing to do with scripture or the bible.......looking at what you did say, there is too much ammunition for them here. Disagreement with the Governing Body, insinuating that they are totally out of touch with what "we" have to go through. And meeting with them, your husband won't likely just take their further accusations and apologize but try to argue his way out of this. Even if he doesn't say anything wrong, two elders will agree with each other that he did.
I tell you, stay absolutely brief and walk away/hang up. "We are fine." No matter what they say, "No, it was a misunderstanding."

The hum of transmission lines and transformers, the shock. You guys are just talking to me like I am ignorant of the obvious. You can't prove that it isn't the angels humming or that it's holy spirit that shocks you.
Cattle prods and electric fences- ha. You will probably tell me there's a device that can deliver electricity to a human body like through pads on the chest to get the heart jump started or some kind of gun that could shock a criminal suspect so you don't have to shoot him.
You know, such things are not mentioned in my holy book. Lots and lots of sheep herders had a hand in that book and if electricity were real, it would have said so right after it banned slavery.
