Who is to say whether a GB member has ever had blood or not? They just would not tell anyone.

What if one of the GB members suddenly needed blood?
by StarTrekAngel inthere is not much to be analyzed.
in a cult enviromment the leader will always look up for himself.
he would never hesitate to break every rule to save his own skin.

Fifteen years later, I went to the UN in person.
by biblexaminer inof all the things that the watchtower has done wrong, what would you say is the singular most powerful thing that you could point a jw to, to crack their eyes open?
what is the singular thing that can be expressed bluntly and conclusively that might shock a jw to their senses?
if you could only carry one arrow in your quiver on your way to war with watchtower, what would it be?.

The UN thing, they will say, was just for the Library card.
I would go with flip flopping on "generation" as Armageddon never arrived according to their timetable and mostly to the laughable "overlapping generation." -

So sorry to read of your loss. You were bamboozled, it wasn't that you were a dumb or rotten son. You are like your dad so you probably understand the stubbornness on both your parts to never repair the damages. Nothing can make up for lost time, but it sounds like your dad did the best he could to move on and would hope that you do the same after you mourn your loss.

A Ha
What's up with her thumb?Did she have thumbs in the pic? I didn't notice.
I saw the pitching breakdown in Game 1 and said "Cubs in 7." I wavered from my faith after Game 4, but believed strongly again in Game 7. Then, in typical Cubs fashion, it could not just be a victory when they were up for almost the entire game. It had to be a comedy of errors and over-management that brought it back to dead even before it was finished, and a rain delay for the extra inning. And even the two runs in the top of the tenth were not enough as the Indians got one back and put a man on base to make a single pitch decide who would win the series- a strike out pitch, an out in the field, or a walk-off 2-RBI homer.
It's just not Cubs baseball unless it's nail-biting. -

Just like Armageddon, this Cubs victory is about 102 years late.
The Jehovah's Witnesses have much in common with the world of the last Cubs World Series victory.
It's probably even prophetic as everything prophetic in Watchtower Land seems to happen in or near October.
Just like the 1908 Cubs lived in a world with no Mother's Day or Father's Day, so the Jehovah's Witnesses still do today.
Just as probably virtually all major league baseball players in 1908 never went to college, so it is for the majority of JW's today.
The first Model T Ford was produced in 1908 and later, the 4 door sedan was to become the standard for all JW's.Before taking the field that spring, the 1908 Cubs heard about something new in New York City- a 700 pound ball with a 5 foot diameter was dropped from a flagpole at Midnight to mark the start of 1908. JW's would have heard about that too and have learned to drop the ball all the time when it comes to the passing of time. (Okay, that one was a stretch.)
The practice of putting Gideon Bibles in hotel rooms was started in November of 1908 in Superior, Montana. The Witnesses have been trying for 100 years to put their Bible within arms reach of people since about that time, too.And the greatest (and maybe most prophetic) thing the 1908 Cubs and the Jehovah's Witnesses have in common is that, after awhile passed without further victories, people started to feel for the Cubs and they even became the Lovable Losers. This actually created their fan base and has helped sell Cubs merchandise throughout the years. Many people feel sorry for the JW's because their precious Armageddon never gets here. While they don't really form a "fan" base, the same people who feel sorry for them often take their literature out of pity and give them a dollar.

Okay, looking tough. I say, bring out Bartman on a goat wearing a Mets hat to throw out the first pitch on Sunday and embrace the curse.
I also say that while I root root root for the Cubbies, I will be okay if they lose. -

Let's Be Honest - You or One of Your Ancestors Was an Idiot
by Simon inwhy were we ever a jw?
were we mad?
we must have been .... well, my excuse is that i knew nothing else.

I don't care for the "idiot" label even though I know what you are saying. My aunt went in to the JW's as a young college grad because the end of the world was coming. My mother got sucked in for the same thing.
I am one of the big anomolies. I got away from it as a kid when Mom was DF'ed in 1976. She went back later but I did not. I have a never-JW dad, so I got a nearly normal teen life. I joined the military and then my life turned crazy due to an alcohol addiction. Following a suicide attempt, I turned to the only God I ever knew of, Jehovah.
I feel "suckered" but intelligence is not the biggest factor.

I have completely different circumstances, and I faded quickly. But I get why people are reluctant, are cautious. They have so many family they feel they will let down, lose contact with.
But if you let time slip away, it's totally lost time. I think the best way to go about fading is to set goals. You live at home, so goals right now are going to have to be small. But you could certainly still work towards reducing your time spent in the Kingdom Hall- goals include arriving later, leaving the hall earlier after the meeting, getting out of the "recruiting" work as much as possible, ditching as many "privileges" as possible.
College can help you reduce meeting attendance. If you still live at home then, maybe not. But get steady goals for that in mind for when you no longer live at home.
You are already baptized. But don't let them ever get you to pioneer, even for a month. If you are a male, try to avoid further privileges in the hall. Definitely try to keep your future free by not dating a JW. -

Rape Victim Forced To Listen To a Tape Of Her Assault In A JC
by pale.emperor inthis is absolutely outrageous.
a rape victim was forced to listen to herself being raped while the elders stopped and started the tape claiming she was consenting.
even though during one of the assaults she was duct-taped, gagged and had a pillowcase over her head.

Regardless of the facts surrounding her "willingness" or "unwillingness" to return to the perpetrator multiple times, the suit against Watchtower seems pretty sound- knowingly elevating him to a position where he could do this.
As far as the elders are concerned, playing the audio of the events, that's what you get when you tell window washers and janitors that they will have God's blessings on their decisions and allow them to let power go to their heads.
