USA, you ignored Puerto Rico when it was devastated. Your leader downplayed a pandemic and magnified the consequences. Your Congress spent trillions on making rich people feel a sense of hope for themselves and threw some crumbs to the people.
USA, you have homeless people and vacant buildings sharing the same areas. You have humongous healthcare costs and kept healthcare linked to employment, then destroyed your economy and the employment.
USA, you have no national standards for caring for the health or the education of the people.
Other countries have felt that Americans are ignorant and rude and self-centered. And then with Bozo in charge, their feelings were confirmed.

What is REALLY behind the destruction of the Postal Service? I decided to research it ...
by Terry ini don't know about you - but i never know when i'm being lied to or told the truth any longer.
partisans are tribes warring on truth.
i decided to see what i could find out historically and this is what i've come up with.

While your opening post if full of truths, why are you avoiding the current situation where Bozo put another clown in charge and they are sabotaging whatever functionality is left of the post office?
A jealousy thing about a billionaire owning a newspaper and wanting to muck it up over the election. -

Attorney General Bill Barr...what do you think of him?
by minimus inthe us attorney general appears to be a polarizing figure.
he certainly is not like his predecessor from alabama, jeff sessions .
barr seems to speak his mind and i really don’t think that he has a problem sticking up for what he believes in.. i like him but i also liked sessions.

Wow Min, can't you see that Barr is always trying to do the bindings of Donald Trump? ...He's supposed to be represent the country, not the president.

A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist
by Giles Gray ini would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.
i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.
i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

Waton: The generation of partakers will pass away, when they are finished overlapping, at the outset of the Great Tribulation, long before all the Things have occurred.
The end will come....the outset of the Great Tribulation....Armageddon....the beginning of the end....last days
See how difficult it is to separate which one they want you to understand? Because they really don't want you to know which.
Sometime in the future, when the G.B. see it is time, they will close the gates or flee to an Island with suitcases of cash and say the Great Tribulation has started.

I recently engaged with a JW regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points I was making. I was left a little confused as to what the official JW response would/should be.
That is typical nowadays. Most adult JW's in the 70's through the 90's who studied at all could answer questions about the doctrine. And it's not really that the JW's later were not as sharp, but the doctrine started changing so much and was so goofy that many didn't bother to keep up with the chariot.
Despite my never accepting it, I can at least explain it, like a good JW should be able to do.
The short story- There was a group of JW's alive in 1914 whose lives significantly overlapped with JW's later, and without any reason whatsoever (other than that time is up on their old doctrines), they are saying the two groups are one big overlapping generation, and the end will come before the second group passes away.
Basically, my great grandmother died at 103 and I was an adult before she passed, so our lives overlapped significantly. Despite her being 60 years older than me, the 'overlapping generation' crap says that my great grandmother and I are of the same generation. -

Hillary could not inspire people to vote FOR her. Now that people know what a buffoon Trump is, what a racist, narcissistic, incompetent, blackmailer, puppet of Russia, dictator-wanna-be, he really is, people will vote AGAINST Donald.
Despite the Democratic choice, Biden will win.

Lloyd Evans exploitation videos.
by phoenixrising ini used to watch his videos on the monthly gb talks.
he has went over the top a few times doing one video on why being liberal idiot is a good thing.
he has made comments on the usa not knowing shit about what he was desperately trying to talk about.
-
OnTheWayOut
Wow, I was with you when you opened the thread with some criticism of Lloyd. I don't even know which side of these USA issues Lloyd is on, but I got what you were saying because I know what kind of guy Lloyd is.
But apparently, Lloyd is not the only one who "has made comments on the USA not knowing shit about what he was desperately trying to talk about."
phoenixrising makes broad generalizations about liberals that are loaded with "absolutes." So now I can watch my back around phoenixrising, too. -

Pioneer School Funny Picture
by pale.emperor infound this on one of the exjw reddit pages.
a "hilarious" group photo.
another sign that this isnt the same religion we remembered of the 80s and 90s - and i dont mean that in a good, progressive way.. you can just smell the virginity oozing out of the front and back row.. .

While this is probably not the main photo they took, such antics would not have been allowed on any additional photos 'back in the day.'
While Watchtower was always too stiff, too strict, I don't wish it to get even slightly more casual or lighten up on members' personal choices- for the simple reason that they will wake up easier if they see what a mind-control situation they are really in.

Did they use to applaud after reinstatement after being Disfellowshipped, but then it stopped?
by ThomasCovenant ini don't remember disfellowshippings happening very often and announcements about being re instated but i think i remember that we used to clap hands if someone came back after being disfellowshipped.
but then i think clapping wasn't allowed.
am i correct in my recollections?.

One of the best responses I have read as to why they do what they do.
