Min: For me the best President in my lifetime was probably Ronald Reagan.
Reagan- Iran-Contra Affair- Arms for Hostages scandal.
HUD rigging scandal.
Savings and Loan crisis created by tax loopholes and bank de-regulation
While climbing the political ladder, Reagan opposed every major piece of civil rights legislation adopted by Congress, and while president, he continued that legacy.
Just as "Make America Great Again" tried to make white people remember when they were the clear majority in America, Reagan played to nostalgia for the 1950's era before civil rights, feminism, environmental activism
Reagan was probably America's biggest downfall in modern times, reviving class warfare of rich vs. poor, management vs.labor.

Are You Confident With Covid Vaccines and What Officials Say Is The Right Thing To Do?
by minimus inmost of my friends have gotten the vaccines and are quite confident that it’s just what the doctor ordered.
i’m not confident with dr. fauci.
i don’t like the fact that the makers of the vaccines are not held responsible if someone taking the vac develops an illness or even death.

THIS and THAT. LEFT and RIGHT.
It would seem, no matter the subject, that people are now more inclined to argue against differing opinions no matter what. If you think we should take the vaccine, you argue of the stupidity of those who don't. If you think we should not take the vaccine, you argue of the naivety of those who do.
C'mon people. Let people be independent thinkers. I have a high level of exposure at work and I am confident enough in my convictions of the evidence that a guy in his 50's should be okay taking the vaccine without long-term detrimental effects. If another guy in his 50's isn't in line with my thoughts, I hope it's because of his thinking for himself and not because they are so sure Bill Gates put a chip in the vaccine. And then I am fine with his decision.
Same with other groups or people in other circumstances. If they decide for themselves, people should be free to make their decisions.
Now, if you wanna argue the points- fine. But don't just chop down everybody who feels different. -

Derek Chauvin - The Right to a Fair Trial
by Simon inanyone following the derek chauvin trial?.
if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.
there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

Yeah, I always drive at or slightly over the speed limit if there is a cop behind me late at night - nothing screams "stop me, I'm guilty!" more than driving overly cautiously and under-the-limit when there is no need.
That sounds like sarcasm. I hope it is sarcasm. I see nothing wrong with "driving overly cautiously and under-the-limit." -

This one bible passage proves abortions are wrong and honoring Mary is right
by TTWSYF innwt luke chapt 1.
41 well, as elizabeth heard the greeting of mary, the infant in her womb leaped, and elizabeth was filled with holy spirit 42 and loudly cried out: “blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruitage of your womb!
43 so how is it that this privilege is mine, to have the mother of my lord come to me?

I would rather be forced to base my life on quotes from Kurt Vonnegut or Tommy Chong than by the Bible.
The Bible somehow "proves" whatever someone wants it to prove.
Just suppose for a moment that the account of Mary and Elizabeth is fiction. Heck, suppose that Mary got knocked up and someone created a fantastical story about her virgin pregnancy. -

But it was news-worthy that it was possible.150 people a day reaching out to a worldwide website is a terribly low number.

Parking Attendant Training Videos
by Jofi_Wofo ini know that all of the assembly/convention attendant training videos have been leaked publicly, but has anyone gotten a hold of the parking training videos?.
i saw these about a year and a half ago, when i was still pimo.
as bizarre and manipulative as the attendant video series is, the parking videos put them to shame.

OnTheWayOut
I wish the parking attendant videos would cover the parking lot scandals.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/66723/tacoma-dome-parking-scandal
While it was exposed in Tacoma, I remember how they collected money at the Kingdom Hall for parking passes and then let people park without them in another place, because they weren't supposed to charge for parking unless there was a deal with the stadium, which already had to concede the use of food concessions. -

Would the world be a better place without religion?
by pistolpete ini know what you’re gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyone’s right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovah’s witnesses vs catholics).

It is cute that you claim to "know what [I am] gonna say. Ex-JW's are a crowd just like a herd of cats- all wanting to do our own thing and think our own way, so you really can't know what we are going to say.
Initially, I want to say that the world will definitely be a better place without religion. But I have to clarify that it would only be so under certain conditions.
You say there would be "No conflicts between Islam and Christianity, No conflicts between different sects, No families being broken up because of Religious belief."
I remember seeing an episode of South Park that helps with this.
The character, Cartman is hundreds of years in the future due to cryogenic suspension. Worldwide atheism has eradicated religion. Atheism has in turn split into three hostile denominations at perpetual war over the so-called "great question": Cartman discovers the nature of the "great question": the war is being fought over which denomination name is the most logical for atheists to call themselves.
There is war over what name should be used for Worldwide Atheism, so essentially 3 religions or "sects" have been created, split over a stupid issue. And that could happen if religion did not exist- groups could be so divided over issues like liberalism vs. conservatism, homeschooling vs. traditional schooling, so many issues- many of which are just like religious arguments today. Families could be broken up over issues like who they voted for.
I would love to see religion gone- a major cause of division. But it would not solve all the problems that exist primarily because of religious divide. -

How many TRUE BELIEVERS do you think are left in the Organization?
by pistolpete ini have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.

Any jw under 50 years of age I don't consider, for the most part, a True Believer.
Yes, I will agree with that thought from the opening post. There might be a handful of true believers under 50, but not really many. -

Did The Witnesses Mess Up Your Sex Life?
by minimus inmost of the witnesses i knew never really talked about sex.
whatever couples did was pretty much kept quiet.
every once in a while a wife might complain to the elders or a friend that the husband is too demanding or even immoral because of the sex practices the husband wanted.

What evidence would I provide?
It depends on the person and what they need to convince them. For the most part, I would steer people to the same kinds of places I went to, one primary internet site being jwfactsdotcom. If they need their hand held to guitde them, we could discuss changes in doctrine and policy, flip-flops on Bible understanding, or we could go to covering up the UN involvement and more current situations like hiding pedophiles.
