  Hypnotic method of WTS

  i was reading various materials from the web and came across information that suggests that j.f.rutherford .

  learned to use hypnotic study methods.

  I was reading various materials from the web and came across information that suggests that J.F.Rutherford

  learned to use hypnotic study methods. Study books for students engage the left brain and right brain,

  one after the other, by rhetorical questions followed by a scripture that seems to support them.

  The study itself engages the left then right brain by having 2 JWs discuss the information to you, going back and forth.

  The mind is pleased with this stimulation and doesn't take time to analyze the information, itself.

  The WT meeting and book study meeting do the same thing. A brother reads, switch over to the conductor

  asking a question, switch to people commenting on the exact same thing they just read, keep the audience

  hypnotized. ANY COMMENTS- is this why some of us were tricked into thinking we did analyze this religion?

  what are the chances he,ll stay?

  what are the chances a 55 year old protestant who has become caught up with the jws and is about to convert, will realise they are probably making the biggest mistake of their lives?..anybody known any converts or had any experience of this?

  Use these boards to phrase the statements more correctly. Write him a letter asking for the answers to a few questions- if he answers them to your satisfaction, you will consider looking into this religion.

  Questions can be-

  Are the people who produce the WT considered prophets?

  Did they ever say they were prophets?

  A prophet who foretells something that doesn't happen- what do they call him?

  Did the WT ever foretell something that didn't happen?

  There could be more or better questions, but don't go too far, he'll tune out. Possibly ask him what the organization thinks of him having a friend who is not a JW, and of the opposite sex.

  When you read the watchtower.....................

  how did you feel when you read the wts when you were still in the org.

  after the fist couple of years of being in, i avoided it as much as i could.

  it was like reading a day old newspaper over and over again.

  I always had trouble with the cover-to-cover reading. Awake had good general articles about a country, an animal, a food, etc. I would pick and choose that. I would look for a field service topic (takes about 2-3 minutes of searching from the table of contents and skimming). I did read the study articles, but only those many times.

  I learned to love doing research in older publications, but that was something with a purpose. I still enjoy FINDING QUOTES THAT PROVE THAT THEY ARE NOT GOD'S ORGANIZATION. This is very similar to confirming that the organization is RIGHT by deeper study, but it is much easier to confirm that they are WRONG.

  New special campaign....a few things that most don't see....

  ok. we have that "special" campaign ahead.....i still don't know how i will avoid participating....my family is all excited and will put the pressure on.....i might get my 50 tracts and toss them somewhere......it will look suspicious that i finished after an hour and "placed" 50 pcs in a territory that is closed to jw.....anyway.

  here a few thoughts that crossed my mind:.

  everybody at my hall is all excited about this special tract and i can't get the nice conversations i usually have with a few going, because of the excitement.

  As was mentioned, the Hebrew calander thing, but also, JW doctrine states that Jesus was killed at the half of the week (too long to explain) which was in the spring, his ministry was 3.5 yrs long starting after his baptism around October 1st (approx.) There is proof that he was born around Sept/Oct. (Certainly not December). This and other chronology proves that GOD's calander started at the same time that the Hebrew one did. That means Adam was created Sept/Oct. and virtually all prophecy relates to those times of year (except events that don't fit the chronology because they happened in June or some other month. Don't dwell on those.) World War One proves this is true (OCT).

  What if a religious org. came knocking on active JW's door? Reaction?

  and what if they were preaching the kingdom of god?

  what if they had biblesalone and were not handing out any other literature?

  What subjects would you want to cover if you were the one on THEIR door step?

  If you mean " What subjects would you want to cover if they were on YOUR door step?" then I would try to say the following:

  Some Christians visited me years ago and offered to help me understand the Bible. I listened to them.

  I gave so many years of my life to spreading the message of Christ's Kingdom that THEY taught me.

  Now, I realize that those years were wasted, the message was false.

  If you haven't already found out why former members of your belief have left, you need to do so.

  I now understand that the Bible can be twisted in ANY way, to suit ANY goals of ANY group.

  I won't be referring to it with you. I will keep it to myself, have a nice day.

  Dear relative of our poster, AuntieJane,

  You cannot seriously examine the Watchtower organization from within, only. It is crucial to look at information from experts and former members. The author of this book was a Governing Body member who knew about many problems in the organization.

  I was an elder for over 10 years. I had many doubts about the correctness of Jehovah's Witness Doctrine. After deciding that there were serious flaws in the organization's beliefs, I decided to read this book. It totally opened my eyes.

  Holy Spirit not in the Halls

  at at district convention, the speaker at the beginning, saying how we need to take notes.....listen, don't miss anything....sleep well at night .

  no walking in the halls, hanging out in the halls.......... jehovahs spirit is in the auditorium, not in the halls!

  you will only recieve jah's hs in the auditorim.

  Jehovahs spirit is in the auditorium, not in the halls! You will only recieve Jah's HS in the auditorim.

  Yet, if your baby starts crying, the two of you need to go out to the hall or bathroom where holy spirit lacks, so you don't disturb the rest of us. Go talk to the elders who are doing their (during-the-session) volunteer work (and gossiping), yet are, somehow, not missing out on the holy spirit.

  If you are very old or very unhealthy and need to leave early or often, need to visit the washroom regularly, need to stand, need to eat something small every 90 minutes or so, you will be forgiven secretly only if you bitch about it to the elders. Otherwise, you will miss out on holy spirit.

  I wish I was awoke years ago.

  what was it that made you first doubt????

  was it doctrine?

  was it people?

  Doctrine on 1995 change in "this generation" really got me digging into my WT publications. My mother told me all about 1975 and I added that to my research. Eventually, I was convinced that either the new light on generation was wrong or both the new light and the old light were wrong. As far as 1975 went, it was clear that the WT pubs pushed the hype and blamed the rank and file. There was a further apology years later, but that was just an appeasement- too late.

  Finally after years of spare-time research to reach these decisions, I opened up the internet this past summer, 2006. What a flood of information to help me. Freeminds and Ray Franz' book made me start heading toward the door.
