Similar thoughts. I am not an Apostle defender, but they never said which year the end would come in. Personally, I don't think they were ever discussing the end of the Gentile times or the destruction at Armageddon (as JW teach it).

Seriously, they recognized sex within a marriage is allowed even without producing children.
Give them their dues.

Big changes after the new tract?
by Matt_fs inone of my jw friends who still talks to me said this was the last tract that will be released from the faithfull discreet slave and that after the tract has been released there will be some major changes and for everyone not to be affraid.
does anyone have an idea of what this might be?
this gets me a little curious!.

the last tract that will be released
there will be some major changes and for everyone not to be afraid
This only leads me to one conclusion. They are going to stop offering literature to the public in general. There's no profit anylonger in
giving away literature on a donation basis, so they will stop. They will become a regular publisher of books, magazines. They will pay the taxes from now on, after soaking JW's for the "cost of printing." They will be expected to BUY all field service related items and SELL them to the public, but small free pamphlets will not be available. If the public doesn't buy these items, then the rank and file will still have to do so.Either that or it's just a silly rumor.

Blood issue, I finally got it
by OnTheWayOut inthe jw doctrine of "no blood" has never affected me, personally.
i knew that either.
jehovah's witnesses were wrong or the rest of the world was wrong.

Skyking,
I am happy to hear that the beaurocracy got in the way of your religious freedom- applying the law correctly that your
daughter did not grow up to fully understand the issue and make her own decision.I am happy to hear this.
I am sad when I think of us adults who did not fully understand the issue, causing us to either make the wrong
decision, or hope it never comes up.I am glad it never came up for me, I still may have to face it later, but I will be ready.

What Do You Think About The "Faithful&Discreet Slave Class"?
by minimus inthere are so many new posters here now, i think this topic should be revisited.
i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".
why can't jws see thru this??

My Webster says under "faithful"
3. accurate; reliable
My Webster says under "discreet"
[SEE DISCERN] careful about what one says or does; prudent
My Webster says under "discern"
to perceive or recognize clearly.
No comments are needed, but that never stopped me. To combine these two words
(faithful & discreet), the leaders of WTS would need to do the following:
Claim they are always accurate, if they don't know something admit it, always be careful
before predicting, always refrain from predicting until the light gets bright enough to
perceive the accurate meaning, if new light is revealed- it would only enhance the incomplete
prediction under old light- never change the old light (CT Russell actually said that somewhere) -

Yes M.J.
This is an example of circular reasoning in the WTS (although they try to keep their reasoning points separated so that nobody puts them together.)
1. Jehovah gave the command to Noah- predates the Law.
2. Jesus fulfilled the Law, ended it.
3. The Apostles said to abstain from blood.
4. We revert to the command to Noah. We need to understand what it means.
5. We examine the Law to understand the command to Noah and the Apostles' command.
6. In the case of fractions, medicines (new light) we justify our position by saying
We are not violating God's command to pour it on the ground because
Jesus fulfilled the Law, we are not under compulsion to pour it out-
7. The important thing is that we respect God's view of blood. We do this by jumping back to # 3Of course, they have misrepresented #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 but it is so buried in there that the
rank and file cannot pick out what is wrong with JW reasoning. -

Good job Drew
I considered a very similar discussion with my elders, which I considered very easy to follow.
They should at least acknowledge that a person who felt he needed to review this information
would want to refrain from Field service. But as your experience shows, they are not prepared
to discuss the thought that their core scriptures actually mean something totally different.Your experience shows me what a waste of time any discussion on those points would be with
the elders. I will stick to discussions with the wife, mother, and no others in the borg. -

Paul Did Not Write Hebrews
by Butters infor those of us who still read the bible, and believe it, it should be noted that paul did not write hebrews.
there is a clear statement in the bible that proves this rather easily.... hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation?
which having at the first been spoken through the lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard;.

Paul may or may not have written a letter to the Hebrews upon which the Bible book is based.
The priests, editors, whatever you want to call the Christian conmen may or may not have put Paul's name to
one of their own writings, or that of another person. Those same priests, conmen may or may not have edited Paul's original letter to suit their purposes, so
that the original content was drastically changed. -

Paperback Bible
by PoppyR inmy mum proudly showed me the latest development, a cheap horrible paperback bible, she said how great it was to be able to turn the pages so easily!!
how do the dubs do it?
get people excited over making things cheaper and nastier.

Oh,
paperback bibles are exactly the same pages as the black hardcover, they are black, they come in the baby-bible version also.
The hardcover large reference bible, I was told, are phasing out- but will continue the exact same bible in softcover.
Fortunately for the printing company, most JW's have the hard reference bible, and not many new JW's would ever read it,
because it is too cumbersome for use, too flimsy for it's size. Most are content with the regular size.
