Songs celebrating leaving the faith? Not being a puppet, mind controlled, living life, etc etc
by aley63 ini am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.
all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

And then this little ditty by Fleetwood Mac:

"Never Going Back Again"
She broke down and let me in
Made me see where I've been
Been down one time
Been down two times
I'm never going back again
You don't know what it means to win
Come down and see me again
Been down one time
Been down two times
I'm never going back again -

Goodbye Stranger
It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
And I really have enjoyed my stay
But I must be moving onLike a king without a castle
Like a queen without a throne
I'm an early morning lover
And I must be moving on, yeah, yeahNow I believe in what you say
Is the undisputed truth
But I have to have things my own way
To keep me in my youthLike a ship without an anchor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veinsAnd I will go on shining
Shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me
My troubles will be fewGoodbye, stranger, it's been nice
Hope you find your paradise
Tried to see your point of view
Hope your dreams will all come trueGoodbye, Mary, goodbye, Jane
Will we ever meet again?
Feel no sorrow, feel no shame
Come tomorrow, feel no painSweet devotion (Goodbye, Mary)
It's not for me (Goodbye, Jane)
Just give me motion (Will we ever)
To set me free (Meet again?)
In the land and the ocean (Feel no sorrow)
Far away (Feel no shame)
It's the life I've chosen (Come tomorrow)
Every day (Feel no pain)
So goodbye, Mary (Goodbye, Mary)
Goodbye, Jane (Goodbye, Jane)
Will we ever (Will we ever)
Meet again? (Meet again?)Now some they do and some they don't
And some you just can't tell
And some they will and some they won't
With some it's just as wellYou can laugh at my behaviour
And that'll never bother me
Say the devil is my saviour
But I don't pay no heedAnd I will go on shining
Shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me
My troubles will be fewGoodbye, stranger, it's been nice
Hope you find your paradise
Tried to see your point of view
Hope your dreams will all come trueGoodbye, Mary, goodbye, Jane
Will we ever meet again?
Feel no sorrow, feel no shame
Come tomorrow, feel no painSweet devotion (Goodbye, Mary)
It's not for me (Goodbye, Jane)
Just give me motion (Will we ever)
To set me free (Meet again?)
In the land and the ocean (Feel no sorrow)
Far away (Feel no shame)
It's the life I've chosen (Come tomorrow)
Every day (Feel no pain)So now I'm leaving (Goodbye, Mary)
Got to go (Goodbye, Jane)
Hit the road (Will we ever)
I'll say it once again (Meet again?)
Oh, yes, I'm leaving (Feel so sorrow)
Got to go (Feel no shame)
Got to go (Come tomorrow)
I'm sorry, I must dash (Feel no pain)So goodbye, Mary (Goodbye, Mary)
Goodbye, Jane (Goodbye, Jane)
Will we ever (Will we ever)
Meet again? (Meet again?)Oh, I'm leaving
I've got to go -

The Logical Song by Supertramp
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily,
Joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible,
Logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
Clinical, intellectual, cynical. There are times when all the world's asleep,
The questions run too deep
For such a simple man.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am.Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,
Liberal, fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
Acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable! At night, when all the world's asleep,
The questions run so deep
For such a simple man.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am. -

What Would Happen if the Watchtower Loses Their TAX EXEMPT STATUS?
by John Aquila inwould it really affect them?
how would it affect volunteers at any construction project since that work would now be taxable.
any materials they buy would be taxable.

OnTheWayOut
As Terry said on page 1, if Scientology is tax exempt, Watchtower is safe. I think it would only happen if they went after all of religion. It could happen one day.
Meanwhile, they could go after Watchtower in pieces- ending full time volunteering for Watchtower, charging taxes on donations from the "sale" of literature, disallowing tax write-offs to members for various things, maybe even cracking down on traveling overseers and green handshakes.
Most of the above, I doubt very much.

How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?
by Bonsai init seems incredibly difficult.
those who leave the org.
(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

I get an occasional hug from a sister who is with my wife and that causes her to cross my path. Otherwise, nothing. I thought at first when I started the fade that I would keep my JW best friend, as I was always there for him. NOPE. He was one of the first JW's to choose a rigid application of the rules and state that he had to limit association (cut it entirely).
I think I was way better off that way. Despite the way I typed the above, I recognize these people are in a dangerous mind-control cult and I would welcome them back into my life if they left the Watchtower. I developed much better friends among former JW's that don't care if I am liberal or conservative, atheist or Christian or Buddhist, whether I smoke or not. It's much more satisfying than trying to keep a bond with someone who you can't discuss things with freely.

God Answers the Prayers of the Earring Hunters
by konceptual99 injust a small anecdote from the meeting last night.. in the item interviewing a couple of older, long standing ones, one of the sisters was asked how jehovah had answered her prayers.
her response was "in lots of ways but it's the little ways i think of the most.
for example, when i am rushing to get ready for the meeting and putting my earrings in and i drop the butterfly clip on the floor and cannot find it.

God loves to take sides in football (both American and what Americans call soccer)and baseball. He doesn't seem to take a side in basketball except for college ball. He also seems to ignore rich folks on the fields of a golf course and lets them battle it out without him. .......well, there was that Tiger Woods thing, but then he cheated on his wife and God left him to his own skills.
Earrings and small miracles that get JW's to their conventions are huge with God.
Starving children and natural disasters, .......well, sometimes God lets the entire Kingdom Hall collapse and is responsible for any who survive but not responsible for any who die, and sometimes He miraculously causes a third-world country miracle of food for JW's about to go off the pioneer list. There was this time a wild boar just charged right into the hut so the JW there could kill it for food and stay on the list a whole month longer until some new miracle comes along. So we have to understand that He's too busy for non-JW Haitian or Indonesian boys and girls.
And the Lord works in mysterious ways. It seems that all Christian sects have such anecdotes for their God and Lord helping them and ignoring others. Perhaps, it's rescuing a Christian's cat instead of pulling Iraqi children out of a building about to be blown up. Or it could be helping Perry find a new weblink that proves that Jesus is real while not preventing a flood in another state that allows gay marriage.

camping information.
by James Brown inmy wife and i are planning on taking a year off and taking a jeep and a camper through all the 48 contiguous states and alaska and some of canada.. living in florida, i have always had guns and a concealed carry permit.
but researching for our upcoming retirement vacation, it seems to me that i might not be able to legally carry firearms on my upcoming expedition.. it seems every state has different laws and licenses.
what does a camper from florida do when he goes to new york or california?

The site I listed previously has Canada information. More specifically, http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/information/lic-per-eng.htm has info. on getting permission to bring firearms. Click on Visitor/Non-resident. Still, it sounds like a hassle. You can do it, most likely. But I say: Bring your baseball bat and leave the guns in Florida. -

Oh yeah, Canada: http://www.ezbordercrossing.com/the-inspection-experience/transporting-firearms/bringing-a-firearm-into-canada/#.VYxXK_lViko
They don't allow handguns except for target ranges. It would not be allowed for self-defense or hunting and I think they would want proof that the purpose of a handgun is not for self-defense or hunting. Read that website and stick with hunting rifles or shotguns and be prepared for a grilling at the border. OR don't go to Canada.

This one has even more:
https://www.nraila.org/articles/20150101/guide-to-the-interstate-transportationIn most states, firearms may be transported legally if they are unloaded, cased, and locked in the automobile trunk or otherwise inaccessible to the driver or any passenger. The exceptions to this rule apply mainly to transportation of handguns and so-called “assault weapons.” The myriad and conflicting legal requirements for firearm transportation through the states make caution the key for travelers of which you must consult local law.
If you travel with a trailer or camper that is hauled by an automobile, it is advisable to transport the firearms unloaded, cased and locked in the trunk of the car. If your vehicle is of the type in which driving and living spaces are not separated, the problem becomes one of access. If the firearm is carried on or about the person, or placed in the camper where it is readily accessible to the driver or any passenger, state and local laws regarding concealed carrying of firearms may apply. It is recommended, therefore, that the firearm be transported unloaded, cased, and placed in a locked rear compartment of the camper or mobile home, where it is inaccessible to the driver or any passenger.
