  What Privileges do you get when you are baptized ?

  my husband was baptized at the recent 2018 convention in south africa ....... he was very annoyed that his non-believing wife did not attend the baptism....... but i think he received pressure from his jw father & elders as to why his wife was not attending ....... anyway ..... it's really water off my back .

  i wanted to know what privileges you get as a baptized jw man , as i saw a message from one of the elders at his cong , congratulating him on his baptism and to earning more privileges ..... what are these privileges the elder is speaking about ,,,,, .

  i don't feel like asking my husband as it just lands up in a stupid fight ..... or a long winded explanation ..... thanks .

  It's all been mentioned already. Basically, a "brother" will be able to devote more of his own time and energy to doing the bidding of the Watcbhtower. He can volunteer for more petty assignments and start working toward kissing elders' asses so that they appoint him a ministerial servant later and give him even more petty assignments that require a man with that title to do, such as collecting money from the contribution box and being in charge of others when cleaning or organizing the recruiting work.

  A movie similar to THE MASTER, about Joseph Rutherford seizing control of the Bible Students and morphing it into the cult it becomes would be a good movie.
  
  Maybe a 1975 movie about some family denying their child a real education because the end is coming so soon, and then of course the end wouldn't come and the story could have the aftermath where the child is now an adult and leaves that cult because of the unfulfilled promise, but he must leave behind his family who accepted blame for believing Watchtower said what they said.

  JWFacts is incorrect about "Holy Spirit". Do YOU know about the 40 or so years the WT taught there was NO holy spirit?

  i did my own extensive research as i was getting out, and by exploring actual changes and mentions of core doctrine, i learned how it came about that the gb teach that only they know the truth and only they get holy spirit.

  i was checking if jwfacts had it, and although they mention many older articles, it seems they didn't realize they taught there was no holy spirit.

  this was a real big eye opener for me, so thought i'd share it, and curious if any of you knew about this yourselves????.

  I appreciate the hard work that jwfacts has done. While this stuff is very important to people still waking up and wanting to know just how "wrong" Jehovah's Witnesses really are, I am quite satisfied with the answers that jwfacts provided. But feel free to demonstrate how "wrong" they are, how much they changed.

  i had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.

  i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.

  however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?

  When I finally googled "Jehovah's Witnesses," there were a bunch of web pages. Before discovering jwfacts, I was going to Randy Watters' page quite a bit. I believe it was freeminds.org. Randy had a thing called TALK SOUP which linked to other stuff, much of it was threads on jehovahs-witness.com.

  in today's wt study, 9th sept 2018, para 14. we learnt that jesus mother, mary, is one of the 144.000 anointed at penticost.

  just another classic, we know more than what is contained in scripture..

  for you who have read my bio you will know i have been working on my wife to wake her up.

  now i won’t call her awake yet but through a series of long conversations this week i revealed to her my dissenting toward the jw faith.

  she was totally supportive of me assured me she would never think differently of me because of how i feel.

  Advice on my JW Mother

  i need the advice of those of you who are exjw's on what to do about my still in mother.

  briefly, here's the situation: i am a born-in, never got baptised (thank the fsm), became an athiest about 2015 but haven't come out to anyone but my wife and some trusted friends.

  my mother was raised in the society and is a true believer, but was never as strict about it as some parents are when i was growing up.

  My mother is so sure that Armageddon will come around some next corner any minute now. But we have found a middle ground where we are not supposed to talk about it. My situation is different as I am inactive and baptized. My mother violates our agreement not to talk about it, but just a little bit here and there.
  
  I suck it up, as I see she is not ready at all to hear about how it is a dangerous mind control cult.
  
  I wish I had a better story for you, but that's how I deal with it.
