  Now then - do you totally reject the notion of an occult underbelly to the universe?

  Do you view the universe as a mechanical process; the origin being non-determinable, and would you believe in a creator if the creator could be carefully explained using our current language and understanding of physics?

  Do you believe that we would be able to fully describe the concept of an almighty creator God using our language?

  Do you accept that supernatural events occur daily and would you say that one day we will also be able to pin-point the origin of these events?

  Here's a simple puzzle that the Bible account of creation can't explain.

  That is because the Hebrew accounts are only one of many creation tales and other cultures have their own vision of what GOD is and how the universe operates.

  I used to have my head firmly buried with the Genesis account, then my mind swung further to the East - I then saw another version of the creator, from a different perspective, yet equally as convincing when you are able to decode the central core of beliefs.

  I'm not an expert (yet) on Eastern philosophy - but find it intriguing.

  Trying to inter-mix them doesn't make any sense either, because they always end up separating from each other.

  It is possible to construct a theoretical model that includes both a creator and a system of life that gradually or rapidly evolves.

  Now whether that model is correct - there's the argument

  You are possibly about to be hung, drawn and quartered whyizit as there are gaping holes I can see, with wind blowing straight through them, and posters like Abaddon will exploit those vulnerabilities.

  Its a merry old dance, and then you die.

  Is it anti-intellectual week or what? I always find it hysterically funny when someone in a discussion resorts to insulting someone or being sarcastic because they think they're dealing with someone they obviously think of as an intellectual.

  That's for you to work out. I'm not going to write an essay for you, some things in this life we share aren't that straight forward in my estimation. You want a 'reason' for everything. Fine, if that's what makes you happy. But you will never ever have a reason for "everything".

  Why not listen to some of Alan Watts lectures - they are out there - he was pretty clued up.

  Glad to be of service to you and nice to know your model of reality has been confirmed yet again by us bumbling spiritually minded buffoons.

  That is part of the problem here - I have had a brief glimpse at the various ideas projected by evolutionists, but am not fully versed to argue upon their own territory due to the language employed and conceptual models used, which to be honest, simply do not appeal to who I am and what I choose to believe.

  Amongst any so called " learned " people there can also be a degree of intellectual arrogance projected and you are fighting against a community that has its own interests to protect.

  Regarding 'an observation of change from one species to the next' - the hypothesis of gradual change over many thousands/millions of years excludes that kind of observable evidence. Which is rather convenient wouldn't you say They only tend to bring forth vague examples from what I have seen. I'd love to see a clear case myself. Seriously. My belief system is flexible enough to morph from one idea to the next if needs be.

  to succesfully argue you may be as right or wrong as any other person requires you to show both people are equally qualified to pass judgement on something

  I would say my " feelings " and insights gained through direct experience, are as qualified as I need to be in order to state my case. But, I know that will not be enough for you.

  ... and yes, concerning matters of eschatology, I may be as right or as wrong as you Tuvok.

  I believe I am - I do not think I said otherwise. Unless I was tripping.

  I was being sarcastic before btw - a belief in a supreme being / overmind / great spirit etc - summons forth paradoxical cunundroms continually. But for me, that is no problem, as wrestling with these apparent contradictions is all part of the exercise.

  Don't you ever get bored of these threads? It's obvious really isn't it: My Mom & Dad produced me .. I am me, I am not my Dad. A simple concept. Engage the brain and think for mercy's sake. Unless you choose to believe that GOD is everything and therefore, I am God, you are God and then Jesus would be God as well. Then we have the concept of all things being God, yet God having a transcendent higher mind.... oh wait, I can't be bothered.... bye

  received the nov 06 awake today and this article caught my attention.

  it is about masturbation and the evils of it.

  in a nutshell try to stop and think of other things deal with your guilt but don't let it overwhelm you.

  Probably help you with advice like:

  Read the Bible.

  Think of Jehovah when tempted or an angel looking over your shoulder.

  Go out for a brisk walk or take a cold shower.

  Dig the garden.

  etc

  ( just hope the advice isn't from sister pointy firm breasts or brother bulge )
