My wife, Mrs Smith, started searching for answers and googled 'Jehovah's Witnesses' and there it was. No 1! I reluctantly started to read this 'Apostate' information. LOL. The information blew me away!
I spent a few months just reading and checking that the information was indeed correct. It took me about a year to make my first post.
i'm just an average guy that been there, done that in the jw domain :) .
i reached my "zenith" lol in such domain at the early age of 20 (i'm now 29) while expanding the work in various foreign language congs as a ms with almost all elder privileges except participating in jc's...the only jc i took part was mine last year :).
by the way, my last wife, a christian, caught me several times reading your posts... she thinks that all of us (including myself) are just a bunch of frustrated individuals...oh well no wonder she left :).

false reasoning: the wts claims that there are only two birthdays mentioned in the bible, both of which resulted in someone being killed.
thus, they conclude, that this is jehovah's way of telling us that we should not celebrate brithdays, including the birth of jesus christ.. fact: there are five birthdays mentioned in the bible.
the most important and celebrated is the birth of jesus christ himself.
Job's children celebrated their birthdays, 'Their own day" (NWT) Job did not stop them at all, he just worried that they may have sinned if they partied too hard...
And he was a good man in God's eyes.

JH, I think there will be a few that is just waiting for a ligitimate excuse to get out! So some will leave I am sure. But unfortunately there will be those that would just see it as another proof positive that they are in the 'Truth"

often xmas is associated with saturnalia by some people.. in fact saturnalia was celebrated 17 december to 23 december.. dies natalis natalis invicti was first celebrated on december 25 in about 270.. xmas trees are first mentioned in 1570.. no connection with paganism there..
Googled Saturnalia and there is a lot of info. Thanks for the link about St Nicholas. LOL, should have researched it.

Now that is interesting! Saturnalia was the source of Christmas according to my father, Presiding overseer, (still) Tsk Tsk.

God must be undestandable to YOU. You DO NOT have to conform to someone else's understanding or pre determined doctrine. It is a personal thing between you and your creator, and a God of love surely will not be angered if you percieve his personality in a way that you can understand.
The trinity does not make a lot of sense as three personalities in one. I am not sure if I understand it yet.
